After a good win yesterday can look forward to Friday's game at Taunton. No rain forecast as of yet hopefully it stays that way.
Will Shazhad be fit if so him in for Magoffin? Is Nash going recover from his niggle, perhaps Joyce will get a go if not? Hopefully we can get back to back wins.
What does everyone think? GOSBTS

What I think is that our squad is stretched and that we need to be imaginative to make the most of our limited resources. An example of this would be the erratic, fast but less than fully-fit Mills bowling off a shorter run in T20, giving him more control.
The batting needs a measured influence; someone who can bat through the innings. We don't have the depth to be fearless/reckless for the whole innings. Machan may eventually fulfil this stable role, but in the meantime, Joyce should do it.
Beer and Robinson have bowled well, Mills should play if fit and Yardy rarely gets taken apart. One Nash over against Kent virtually put the game beyond us and the Magoffin experiment has failed. Shahzad would be the best option - if he's not fit, Piolet should come in.

Keep forgetting about Piolet, shame as he did really well last year, must just be out of form. Definitely like the idea of him playing.
Alot of people I was chatting with yesterday suggested Mahela coming up one to open if Nashy isn't fit but I personally don't think that should be the case as if he goes early we could be in trouble to post a big score. Leave him at 3 and have Machan open with Wright, Joyce at 5.

If Nash isn't fit play Joyce. Shahzad for Magoffin unless the former isn't fit in which case I would play Piolet.

The massive squad is:
WAT Beer BC Brown (wkt) C Cachopa HZ Finch ME Hobden DPMD Jayawardena CJ Liddle MW Machan TS Mills CD Nash SA Piolet OE Robinson LJ Wright (c) MH Yardy
Anyon, Hatchett, Prior, Shahzad and Zaidi are all listed as unfit for this match and a special mention given to Hobden, included to boost the bowling options.

So weve left out Magoffin, I presume Hobden in straight swap?

And Farbrace - just like Flower, Giles and Moores before him - obviously feels Jordan is better employed wearing a yellow bib and carrying drinks at Lord's than actually doing a bit of serious bowling at Taunton tomorrow night...

Interesting team selection CD Nash, LJ Wright*, DPMD Jayawardene, Craig Cachopa†, CJ Jordan, WAT Beer, MH Yardy, OE Robinson, TS Mills, HZ Finch, SA Piolet
Finch was always deserving of a place after his heroics for the Seconds, but I'm surprised that Machan is left out and Cachopa retained as wicket-keeper. Is Brown injured, and why not Jackson?

One forgets that Craig Cachopa came through the cricket ranks as a batsman/keeper. Below is a 'Youtube' showing Craig offering advice on keeping two years ago to some youngsters. His 'Cricinfo' wiki refers to his fielding position as 'Wicketkeeper'. Presumably, this is more about Robinson's player rotation system where Brown gets time off for T20s. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcZ-AKVf5-kPS: One does question where Jackson fits in if the Cachopa keeper role is successful.

Interesting too that Somerset are playing their Beer-alike in Max Waller, another legspinner who doesn't/can't get into the first-class side. They also have Abdul Rehman, who is a much more impressive spinner than Yardy or Nash.

Well, it's like old times with the two Sussex spinners taking between them 5 for 48 off 8 overs compared to Jordan's 4 overs, 1 wicket, for 46. Once more Beer is the hero with 3 for 23 runs and he picks up his second 'Player of the Match Award' in a row. A BIG win for Sussex who are showing, after two lean years, that they can defend, once more, a par score and especially at Taunton.
A promising start to the "Blast". This win augurs well for the remaining competition.

Weird team, yet it still looked pretty good, good signs. Beer's a ledge, get him in the champ side. Yardy's a full time bowler and a very canny one in this form and we've finally found his batting position - behind most the team. It's been a problem for years and I've been saying it for years but I don't want any credit, I'm just an ordinary man with a huge brain and amazing insight but let's leave it at that. Hopefully we can keep momentum flowing for the next game - it's in a completely different competition but still. Squad's looking strong again all of a sudden, and it really is sudden cos about two days ago it looked thin. Jordan's a huge plus. Now for a Prior return?
