84 for 6 - judging by the pattern of the Notts 1st innings, we should comfortably overtake their score!

The partnership of 69 between Cachopa and Jordan was the best for any Sussex wicket since Robinson and Hobden put on their 164 against Durham - 6 innings, 3 matches and over a month ago.
There have been demanding pitches, uncertain weather, and of course injuries affecting the balance of the batting since then, but even so, it really is a pretty poor run.

Judging from the radio commentary, he hasn't rediscovered much form - they're making it sound like he's batting terrribly! But he's made some runs and that will do, and time at the crease will hopefully restore his form ,too.

And after the innings fizzled out, here are the figures since the end of the Durham match (5 innings): First 5 wickets, total 472 Wickets 6 - 10, total 498

Amazingly, this is only the third time in his career - now approaching 500 fc wickets - that Magoffin has taken 10 wickets in a match, and the first time ever for Sussex. Surely after this fine performance he deserves to be on the winning side?

It would be great if the Sussex batsmen could do their job properly for once! Our batsmen are useless at the moment.
Are none of the Sussex bowlers capable of getting Wood out?

Well this is frustrating, game has definitely gone now. Can't get Wood out! Yep, it's gone. Notts lead approaching 300 and some time - probably late tomorrow afternoon - they should record their first CC win in nine matches. The cricinfo preview of Sussex's season back in early April - which I took issue with at the time as being ruddy patronising - has turned out to be fairly accurate. Can't be bothered to look up the exact wording so I paraphrase, but basically it said : 'Sussex has a decent nucleus that will be enough to win them a few games and keep them up, but they will lose a few as well, and probably lose them badly, because the squad has too many glaring weaknesses'.

Too many players not performing who need a good kick up the arse from Robinson.

Joyce is currently 229 not out for Ireland - 50 runs more than the entire ruddy Sussex team managed at Trent Bridge.
I'm not knocking Joyce at all. Admirable man, always gives his all whatever shirt he's wearing. But how does such moonlighting fit with being county captain? Should the club consider making Wright captain of the four day side as well as the one day side?
