Gripping entertainment, that'll pack em in Well, they packed 'em in last night, even though the entertainment value was poor! Let's see how many of them come back next time. I find it difficult to add much to what's already been said upthread. It was a tedious experience last night: - the pitch was too slow - our batting was truly awful - they seem to have totally lost confidence - Essex chased down the runs with ease - bearing in mind the size of the crowd, there was little or no atmosphere in the ground (apart from the beginnings of a sea fret!) I'm seriously wondering if I want to continue going to these T20 matches. My mood at the end was 'thank goodness that's finished'. So, this all left me feeling negative, I'm afraid. However, in the cold light of day this morning, I'm telling myself that the club are not unaware of the problems, and that they must be doing something about it. I don't expect them to disclose their plans publicly, but I am assuming that, behind the scenes, something is being done to arrest the team's slide into mediocrity.

If that had been my first visit I highly doubt I would return as there was no entertainment value last night and only Jayawardene emerged from that game with any credit. It will be interesting to see what the crowd against Kent, Glamorgan and Hampshire is. Will they came because they have already spent money on their ticket or will they not bother coming because there is no chance of us progressing further in the competition?

At £25 a pop I'm sure I don't want to go to anymore, I would like Pro40 back.

I agree, MrsD. There are no visible signs, but I would be amazed if there is nothing going on behind the scenes - nobody can regard the current situation as acceptable.

Well, they packed 'em in last night, even though the entertainment value was poor! Let's see how many of them come back next time. At £25 a pop I'm sure I don't want to go to anymore, I would like Pro40 back. I'm sure you would but all the club is interested in is making money. It doesn't give a toss about the members. The absurd 25% increase in the price of the gold seat is just one example of this. Substitute the words well run family club with a club lacking any real direction, belief or leadership. None of the players are improving under the current Director of cricket, in fact they are all going backwards, and why is there no homegrown talent going into or coming out of the Academy under the current Academy coach? If we are not going to bother promoting homegrown talent there is no point having an Academy! The last three players to have been promoted into the Academy are from Bermuda, Holland and Jersey. Why isn't the local talent being given a chance? Why did we promote a Bermudian and Dutch spinner when we have three homegrown spinners in Will Collard, Nick Oxley and Sam Rattle who between them took 64 wickets at 21 apiece last season? I believe the whole backroom staff needs reviewing at the end of the season as it has become stale which is hardly surprising when you consider the Director of Cricket will complete 10 year's service in October. I believe someone from outside who is not previously connected with the club would transform our fortunes on the pitch and breathe new life into the whole squad.
