Normally have an annual family trip to see my county play a T20 match at the Ageas Bowl. Sadly deprived by the fixture list this season, so with an excellent weather forecast, we decided to take in the "El Classicoast" last night.
Many congratulations on your excellent (and somewhat unexpected) victory.
Sussex seemed really sloppy in their pre-match fielding routines, so rather surprised to see the intensity of their fielding during the actual match.
Really enjoyed seeing Tymal Mills for the first time. Wow! How does he manage to bowl that quick with a bad back?
James Vince looked in great form and I rather think that the match turned when Yardy snared him with an intelligent piece of bowling aided by a smart stumping.
Could only see one winner when you were 14 for 3. However, the partnership between Cachopa and Machin was really well measured and they gave an absolute masterclass of quick running between the wickets. Thought that Cachopa was meant to be sadly out of form earlier in the season. Certainly seems to have found where the middle of his bat is!
Anyway, hope that this helps to lift some of your apparent doom and gloom.
Footnote.
My advance tickets (three adults, one under 17 and one student)= £82. Car Park = £10. Round of drinks (2 pints and 2 ciders = a quite staggering £17.80. Add in our M&S picnic/nibbles and overall Dad's evening treat out cost around £150. Thoroughly enjoyable but perhaps reminded me why we make it a one off outing each year.
Rather disappointing crowd of 7,200, but I would suggest that there are some obvious reasons why!!!
