Was the win against Hampshire the first rays of a new dawn or a last flicker before the light is engulfed by the tunnel? Comments, views and prophecies welcomed.

Hi all.
Blog to come on last nights wonderful win at the Ageas. I have to say Luke Wright skippered wonderfully well last evening changing the bowling and batting line ups plus getting the field set up just right. Worked a treat and well executed by the lads.
I am really looking forward to the trip to Cardiff tomorrow will be setting off from Burgess Hill around 9 ish. There is a spare seat or two in the old 206 if anyone fancies making the trip. 07816496487

If the form of the old guard continues to disappoint, it would real compensation if youngsters start making unanswerable cases to come in and replace them. For the first time in recent history, a lot of young, inexperienced players are getting opportunities and you would hope a few would flourish. Cachopa looked an excellent recruit last year, so his return to form last night is heartening. Machan obviously applied himself and both produced a partnership which delivered a victory under real pressure.

Why bowl Nash when the three seamers have bowled six overs four for 16?

Why bowl Nash when the three seamers have bowled six overs four for 16? Did seem strange, would like to keep them under 110 here, get some run rate back with a quick-ish chase.

I am sure we would all have settled for 116 as a target before the game. Let's hope we cruise home. It's hard not to feel nervous though.

260 for none since we slumped to 14 for three on Friday. A win today without Bailey, Cachopa or Machan taking to the crease. No need for Machan to bowl an over as he did on Friday nor Nash today.

An excellent result, with wickets from the less fancied parts of the squad, Robinson excepted, and runs from the older hands this time. Looking forward to reading 2015t20everpresent's blog to read about the game and the further adventures of the 206. Incidentally, given Robinson's consistent heroics not only in the Championship but also for 11 wickets and a constant presence in the T20 side, shouldn't we start thinking about giving him his cap? He certainly deserves it on form and achievements and this is a talent we want to remain at Sussex and encourage as it develops over the next 10 years or more.

I've spent all morning trying to think of something to moan about in that performance - and I'm pleased to report that I've finally cracked it.
"George bloody Bailey? Waste of ruddy money if Wright and Nash are going to bat like that!"
on edit: can I share my favourite grouchy cricket supporter moment of all time? It happened at Tunbridge Wells a few years ago when Kent were playing Yorkshire. I was chatting to one of their travelling supporters and mentioned Craig White and what a fantastic innings of 160-odd he had scored against Kent in a previous encounter.
Whereupon dour Yorkie turned to me and said: "Aye, but he got nowt in second innings."
Wonderful. It was all the most deliciously curmudgeonly bits of Trueman/Close/Illingworth/Boycott rolled up into one single comment and I shall never forget it.
Wonder if leedsgull has come across any better examples of Yorkshiremen not only living up to but exceeding stereotypical expectation?
