So the Cachopa as keeper theory is, as I feared, being tested to destruction. After losing 5 wkts in three overs for 16 runs in the last game, I'd have thought Brown is exactly the sort of man to try to hold the lower order together rather than entrusting the job to Luke Wells at number seven. I wonder if they considered selecting Magoffin who has played one CC game in the last three and a half weeks and if, he is being kept for red ball cricket, will not play again until August 7 ? He'd have bowled a tight spell at the top of the innings and probably have prevented Hales getting off to a flier , plus nine or ten overs would have kept him 'in rhythm' in the middle of what will otherwise be a 16 days lay-off. Brown is not pressing his case with 22 in two completed innings for the seconds at Richmond. As for his T20 form, he has come to the crease with an average of 52.6 potential balls left in the innings or 263 in total. He has lasted 28 balls in total at an average of 4.4. I agree with your sentiments about Magoffin. I suppose we're terrified of him picking up an injury?

However I predict that it will be unchanged or at the very least maybe Yardy for Mills/Liddle from the Hampshire line-up. I can't see Robbo/Joyce ending the Wells 'theory' after 1 game and I think they both prefer seam to the proper spin of Beer.

Good start and then losing 32/4 from nine overs. Not a great deal left in the batting cupboard now but let's hope somebody produces a season's best with either bat or ball. Off out now, hope too see a vast improvement on my return.

Is Mills incapable of bowling at the stumps?

Be fair. Sussex must have batted superbly to make a higher score than England or Australia managed on a blameless five day test wicket at Edgbaston.
Irt seems Notts must have batted even better.
Perhaps England should draft in Nash, Wright, Hales, Taylor, Patel, Yardy and Read as a new top seven for the fourth test at Trent Bridge, as England's current top seven managed 174 runs between them on what is allegedly a perfectly decent pitch!

Dog with a bone.
Anyway, another loss - can kiss this comp goodbye already I reckon, unless CJ and Shahzad can recover in time for the next game and bowl like they're in top form from the off - hmmm. We ain't good enough with this side. Magoffin and Brown in please and if the next game goes tits up H-P, Garton, Jackson, Finch...

A pretty balanced report on the club's website: www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/report-sharks-outlawed-by-notts-at-hoveI still believe this is a dead format. I tried to like it last night, and there were some good spells, but there were too many tedious passages - especially the last hour when Notts carefully scored at the required rate of 3-4 runs an over. There was very little atmosphere, and the crowd dwindled long before the finish. Shame, because the weather was very pleasant.

Probably wouldn't have dwindled if it were Sussex doing the same thing Flash. I don't get the negativity around this comp, maybe you're all T20'd up - whatever that means. If you like cricket...
