The latest triallist for the Seconds, who took 2-58 against Middlesex. He is South African, a batsman and slow left arm bowler. His figures look excellent - but I have a bit of a nagging doubt about the standard of some South African first-class games when the big boys don't play regularly. Does anyonne know anything more about him or has seen him? www.espncricinfo.com/southafrica/content/player/381002.html

South Africa have two levels of first class cricket don't they, the traditional provinces and then the franchises. I don't know how much of each he has played, but it's hard to get terribly excited about another import. It's not as if South Africa are known for their spin bowling.

We do need a spinner, but a seamer is a more pressing need

You mean all-rounder right JB? Is it my imagination, or do you do most of your posting in the pre season? You're not an agent are you?
