played out to two small boys, a dog, and a gaggle of braying suits in the hospitality tent? To be fair, I would estimate the attendances at the two 50 over matches have exceeded that figure. Good idea of free junior tickets for the last match. Bringing the start time forward (12:00?), if possible, might be a good move too.

BM. Am open minded about free tickets being targetted at particular audiences. However I am quite passionate about not devaluing the value of the product or we might as well give up with staging professional cricket!!. I don't think the value of the product could be any lower in this competition could it?

A good pre-season intiative here from Sussex cricket development team, aimed at clubs in Sussex and hosting three separate evenings of discussion at different sites in the county: www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/sussex-cricket-foundation-on-the-road-evenings• How can Sussex Cricket help you as a club? • How can we work closer together? • Q & A with professional players and coaching staff Could another outcome be, How can your club network help the professional game through increased attendance and subscription revenue from players and spectators?

I agree this is an excellent initiative from the club. Although, its success will rely on how many people actually turn up.
