And so we come to the penultimate match of these non-events, for Sussex certainly and for Warwickshire probably, although they statistically have a vague chance of qualifying it looks unlikely. Chief interest then will be what team Sussex puts out: will they heed the clamour from fans and journalist to try the youngsters, in a week when Hudson-Prentice has scored a Second XI century and Jackson continues his good form with the bat, or will they risk the elderly sinews of Joyce and other seniors in this and the Essex game at Hove on Wednesaday as we approach the final, determinant championship games of the season?
Of subsidiary interest will be how many actually show up and what sort of pitch they will find: Warwickshire played a Royal London game there last year, a T20 the year before, and a sprinkling of Second XI games over the last 5 or 6 years, but none recently.

Hatchett at seven, three million bowlers and four proper batters - get a grip Joe.
We would be utterly insane to not play a good amount of youngsters though, so we probably won't. H-P, Jackson and Finch are a must.
Wells Salt Wright Finch Bailey Jackson H-P Jordan Beer Garton Hatchett

Yes, well, er, I didn't do very well did I? But then it's difficult to preempt illogical thinking. The decision making is indeed baffling.
I hope the two youngsters do play otherwise it's just a token gesture.

The omission of H-P looks very odd after his batting against a strong Kent Seconds team last week. Surely Joyce isn't still holding against him the dropped catches when he came on as sub earlier in the season?

Not the weakest of Warwickshire squads.
Varun Chopra (Captain) Tim Ambrose (Wicket Keeper) Keith Barker Rikki Clarke Laurie Evans Recordo Gordon Oliver Hannon Dalby Ateeq Javid Jeetan Patel William Porterfield Josh Poysden Boyd Rankin Jonathan Trott
Interesting to see if Josh "Ashes sub" Poysden plays against Sussex - Mason Crane did well enough nagainst us.

Just started to worry we're running out of batsmen only to realise we've only got four bowlers!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I wonder how many runs Salt would have got, were he playing, in comparison to Joyce, Cachopa and Jordan?
And why play only 4 bowlers when Garton is in the squad?
For the answer to these and many other questions please pluck an answer out of the air.
on edit: and Wells and Beer

We're out of batsmen, we're out of bowlers, we're out of ideas, we're out of confidence. You, messrs Robinson and Joyce, are out of time.
