I wonder who is doing the recruiting. Is it Robbo, and in which case, is he definitely staying? We really need an opener rather than a middle order player, especially if Joyce decides to call it a day, but beggars can't be choosers. You can only sign from what's available.

Yes ....Alex Blake is 27 next season and averages 22 in first class ( 21 in t20)i..is that really what we are looking for?.

I'd be very surprised if at the age of 27 Finch and Jackson averaged anything near that badly. I'd rather get someone like Horton in as a stop gap because he has had a career opening the batting.

That would make more sense...Horton averages 37.6 and has 21 centuries...We probably have reluctant openers and with prior ,yards and RHB gone another opener makes sense.

Can you like and dislike the same post? By the time Finch and Jackson are 27 they'll probably average what they average now. Think that's sod all for Whacko - still, none out of none ain't bad. Wally, where are you? Just kidding. To answer your question - no.

Fresh legs to this story from an article by Steve Hollis in the Argus www.theargus.co.uk/sport/cricket/generalcricket/13651421.Sussex_chase_Kent_batsman_Blake/and a mention on Twitter by Lizzie Ammon. But there's nothing in Hollis's story that moves it on from the original discussion here a few days ago and I wonder which is cart and which is horse? I've never seen Blake play and know of him only from his one day performance against Sussex earlier this year. We do need a good one day player, and perhaps getting Blake in to fill the George Bailey role would free up a place elsewhere for a more universally performing overseas player. It would still mean that we were continuing to leapfrog our Academy hopefuls.

Of the boys who will leave the academy this year ( Salt, Cammish and Garton ) Salt has already played a list A game and been getting runs in the 2's. Garton has been away with England U19's , I would offer both junior contracts. Cammish, unfortunately, has had a very poor season with the bat and very little glove time, on the back of that I'd probably release him.

Could have done a job for us in the T20, but we have more pressing priorities, I would have thought

Does seem like good work from his agent, Borderman, but then the Hollis story? Unless HH was in on it too and created the article, made it look authentic then posted the link on here. That seems unlikely - I've just been watching X-Files you see. Do do do do do dooooo.
Anyway, good. We need a bigger name and a better player to fill the boots of Prior and Yardy - or Priory.

Well, well. Alex Blake has a new deal with Kent and his agent seems to have played Robinson and Sussex like a fiddle to get what he wanted for his client.
Question for the Members Forum, perhaps: Mr Robinson, what exactly was it you were looking for when you negotiated for Alex Blake?

It's still possible we offered him a contract and he chose to stay at Kent. Anyway, I see Tredwell isn't playing for Kent again, is he injured or are they looking long term with Riley? I still wonder whether he may be available despite signing his new contract in the winter.
