I notice that the mods have now given us the opportunity to "dislike" a post. I hope they won't regret it! Indeed so flashblade, and you win the prize for keen-eyed Argos of this forum. It has been commented on before that it seems perverse to be able to "Like" something and not to have the opportunity to register dissent and the coding for this is now available. We will be interested to get feedback from posters - and like everything else here, if it doesn't work to the best interests of the community, we'll scrap it, but first we'd like to give it a trial.

That was some pretty dramatic and immediate feedback. The comments of flashblade, fraudster and mrsdoyle are all taken on board, as is the action of borderman.

Well, I'm surprised at the turn of events. We're all very happy to have our posts liked, but we don't want anyone to dislike them? I thought we'd at least give this a trial run of more than 24 hours. Never mind - in hindsight, perhaps it was a recipe for disharmony.

I doubt whether borderman's leaving the crease so abruptly is attributable solely to the temporary facility to 'dis' a fellow poster but I may be wrong. Let's hope he visits the site, puts the issue into context and rejoins. Most of us on here appreciate his contributions and those of the majority of the others.

I think there should be several more buttons such as "feel quite apathetic about this", "boring", "like but might change my mind", "almost funny". There's more.

There would have to be more. Disdain, disgraceful, dismay and that's just words starting with' 'd' in reaction to fraudster's posts.

Does anyone agree that the range of standard emoticons provides a means of reacting to a post without the use of words. For example, if I was unhappy with a post, I could use or even Why don't we use emoticons more often on this MB?

Having just seen the rest of the posts in this thread I had just been looking up a plugin that would allow members to personalise their own smilies/emoticons/emojis, with up to 25 unique ones available as a drop-down. If there is - I hesitate to use the word serious - interest for this I can do this.

We need a veritable cornucopia of emoticons to cater for all, from the irascible to the irrational, and yes I could name names.
