Tredwell has returned to Kent as his month loan is over. Robnson wants to extend, but no agreement from Kent as yet. As for Tredwell himself, he is quoted as saying he "wouldn't mind" , which isn't exactly the most enthusiastic endorsement one has ever heard. He's far more enthusiastic about playing against Sussex tomorrow night in the T20 and ending the county's outside chance of a quarter-final place! You use more spin than tredwell.what he said was: Tredwell said: “If I am not going to be playing at Kent then I want to be playing cricket somewhere so who knows? If Sussex are keen to have me, I have enjoyed my time so wouldn’t mind it continuing." judge for yourselves from the full quotation.asa kent player he would obviously prefer it if his own county wanted him.

Doesn't seem to be very enthusiastic in either the long or the short version. And equally, he doesn't sound delirious at the prospect of recall to Kent. Perhaps he just feels jaded and fed up with being a pawn. Either way he's batted well and bowled usefully for Sussex and I still don't know how we're going to cover for him in the next, crucial few games, unless Robinson changes his mind and gives Beer a ringing endorsement and a promise that he will get a good run in the side - and of course that spurs Beer on to bowl with confidence.

Quite. What spin, wally? it isn't the most enthusatic endorsement one has ever heard, is it? In fact,in your quote he sounds thoroughly demoralised with being shunted around. And you do not give the full quotation yourself,in any case, just one sentence from the interview!

Thanks, goodbye.
Beero - Stop f****g him about and give him the run he deserves. With the balance we're using if he can't hold up an end it won't matter, we can just use one of the other half a dozen bowlers in the side. Get him in, let's see what the crack is.

Vic Marks has just said on Test Match Special that he has been told England are taking Adam Riley along for the second Test at Lord's (presumably to get him used to the big match atmosphere and being around the England dressing room). If true, it explains why Kent have not agreed to extend Tredwell's loan: when Sussex play Warwicks at Horsham the week after next, Tredwell will presumably be playing in place of Riley for Kent v Surrey at Guildford.
(The distance between Horsham and Guildford, by the way, is 21.6 miles. Seems utterly daft to have two outgrounds so close to each other in direct competition for spectators...)

They're in different counties you nugwart! They could be a mile apart and it wouldn't matter, so long as they're in different counties. Still, that may not mean much to you, Borderman.
Tell me, what are we called in your dreams; Sent or Kessex? : )!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see what county boundaries have got to do with it? If you lived somewhere like Haslemere, Cranleigh or Dorking, equidistant between the two grounds, you'd surely take advantage of a fantastic opportunity to see four first-class counties playing ten miles from your front door all in one week? If the games were not played in competition with each other, you'd take in even more days at both of them. Or at least, I would... By the way, Yardy has just said Tredwell will be playing for Sussex next week, implying that Kent have agreed to externd the loan.

You'd have to have a lot of time on your hands for a start. I don't know about those areas but most people will have a favourite, and that favourite will generally be the county you are from. If I live in Sussex but closer to the Rose Bowl (as a make belief example) my team is still Sussex. Even if Hove is 50 miles away and the Rose Bowl in one, Sussex is my team. My guess is most people would think that way. That's what county boundaries have to do with it.
Bad news about Tredders.

Agreed Fraudster I live in Surrey but there is no way I would go to Guildford rather than Horsham. 1 one Sussex is my team 2 Horsham ground is 100% a more lovely ground.
Back to the thread Tredwell ......I think you will find he will play at Horsham and Scarborough. Why such negatives about him ?
Very useful bowler who bowled beautifully at Arundel on the turgid pitch to help keep Yorks quite, fine fielder, more than useful batsmen, as we have already seen. Moreover, a thorough professional with no ego. I would welcome him on board but he has a Testimonial next year at Kent which could well be a spanner in the works regarding any permanent move.

Yes indeed a spanner in the works, as is Zaidi's 2 year contract. However, perhaps we could embark on a similar arrangement to the one we have with Kent this year, they keep him for the one day matches, where we have Will Beer as our first choice slow bowler, provided he is offered, and signs, a new contract. We can again use him in the championship, where young Riley will probably be playing for Kent. Another spanner in the works of course, would be if we were to join them in the same division. I like Tredwell, he's a good pro and a fighter who has undoubtably added something to our four day side.

No announcement on Tredwell returning to Suusex yet? Kent believe he is off on loan again -they have announced a 12 for their LVCC game starting v Surrey tomorrow that includes two spinners, Riley and Imran Qayyum.

Thanks, Steve. We note with interest your comment that "coach Mark Robinson has opted to bring back the experienced Tredwell as Sussex attempt to pull clear of the relegation zone rather than turn to leg-spinner Will Beer."
As there is only one LVCC match Tredwell will play in his month's loan, the message to Beer could not be clearer. As Butcher and Knight said on Sky Sports the other night, if Sussex won't play him in four day cricket he really needs to move on and find a county that will.
