That was less funny, but pertinent.

Jon Lewis joins coaching staff. We're just (choose any number) lost souls swimming in a goldfish bowl.
We used to be really insular but now we don't look that far.

From the announcement of Jon Lewis being appointed as Assistant Head Coach:
"Murray Goodwin has arrived at Hove as Batting Coach and will be in situ for three months, whilst Jason Swift will be taking charge of the Second Eleven, in conjunction with his duties as Team Analyst."
There are a couple of things that arise from this:
A) Once we reach July and Goodwin flies off, will players have recourse to any coaching expertise or will they be expected to sink or swim?
B) The job specification for the Batting Coach included the role of taking charge of the Second Eleven. Was this too much for Murray Goodwin to handle, or is the Team Analyst a better person to prepare players for bridging the gap between semi-amateur play and the first team?

Was the Team Analyst's job only part time? What on earth is going on?

Whatever the Team Analyst's responsibilities are, at least he should get them done quickly.

Has Jon Lewis been removed from his position as 'Bowling Coach' so that Jimmy Anyon can be appointed to this 'vacancy'?

Has Jon Lewis been removed from his position as 'Bowling Coach' so that Jimmy Anyon can be appointed to this 'vacancy'? You may be joking but I wouldn't bet against it. The musical chairs and jobs for the boys has become a farce. What is it in the big bad world outside BN3 of which Sussex are so plainly terrified? Surprised Prior hasn't been given a job as fitness coach; he could supply the 'lads' with bikes and have them cycling all over the Downs. Hamilton-Brown went off to a job in the city so he will soon be back as treasurer, I guess. As for Goodwin, it's a taking-the-mickey appointment. The job was advertised as full time batting and second XI coach and was perfect for Chris Adams. But he's too outspoken and might rock the sinking boat. Goodwin's face fits and it appars that he was then allowed to write his own job description - "Second XI? Nah, don't really fancy that, mate. Oh and by the way, I've promised the wife and kids I'll be back in Oz by July..." So not a full-time appointment and less than half the advertised responsibilities. Will he back next year, or is it just a three month jolly with a few old mates at Hove for this summer only?

I am quite shocked by this announcement. The club spent many months advertising for a batting coach and is this it?! I don't understand? When did the position become a 3 month part-time job? So, the club are paying for Goodwin's airfares, his accommodation and rental car and in return he's only staying for 3 months? Financially, that is the equivalent of paying a batting coach for the whole season who lives in England.
Can someone explain, please. I am flummoxed. Am I misinterpreting Lewis' quote?

I think we're due an explanation, but I doubt we'll get one. Sounds as if something just hasn't worked out.

I see Giles has signed an extension at Lancs, where he's described as director of cricket and head coach. They must be more skint than we are. Or wiser. Wonder how many non playing chaps they have in their team photo.

Wonder how many non playing chaps they have in their team photo. Yes, the team photo did invite ridicule. Don't think I've ever seen one quite like it - when Flower was in charge of England and had something like 2.5 backroom hangers-on for every player, he at least had the common sense to keep them out of the team photo (the key to why they shouldn't be in the photo is in the word 'team'...) But the Kent one is even funnier. Kent at least had the common sense not to allow the CEO and the track-suited hangers-on in the shot; but they've photo-shopped the heads of many of the players so badly that the results are hilarious.. kent-cricket.com/1NLC-45XBU-2D9KEI5P2F/cr.aspx

The biggest give-away in the Kent picture is that they managed to include Rabada and Latham, even though neither of them was in the country when it was done...

BM The Squad photos is indeed quite embarrassing. Another thing with the posters are they are too cumbersome and large. Whatever happened to the days when counties would produce squad photos and individual pictures for fans to collect?
