Died of cancer at the age of 53. One of the very best of the Overseas pros of the 1980s, coming to Somerset as a locum for Viv Richards in 1984, and exceeding all expectations with batting, bowling and establishing solidarity with the younger players in a team apt to be overawed by it's expensive seniors. Latterly an outspoken, often perceptive journalist.
