Time to end this farce and tell the Bangladesh cricket board to stick their contract as we are sticking with Wiese. Isn't Wiese off to the Icelandic Premier League soon? CPL starts 29th June and the Barbados Tridents have their first match on 1st July, so the Arundel T20 against Glos on 26 June is probably the last date for him.

Somebody is playing games www.bdcricteam.com/2016/06/mustafizur-to-make-mohammedan-debut-on-june-18/Either a) The various Bangladeshi media and in this case the Director of the Mohammedan Sporting Club are just spouting off any old story about the country's latest sporting hero in the hope that somehow this one might just be true... Or b) Mr Fizz's agent and his coaches and protectors within the Bangladeshi national team have now thought better of their investment since his successful World T20 and then IPL stints and don't want to risk it on breaking down in the hurly-burly of an English T20 season.... He may be homesick, he may be young, he may be prone to injuries, but it looks very much as if he is being led by the nose...and so are Sussex. This really has to be scotched by Toumasi/Davis as soon as possible. On edit: sorry crickettrader, I didn't see that you had posted the link while I was writing this, but I will let my comments stand. flashblade talked about Mr Fiz breaking his contract with Sussex, and I corrected him, suggesting that if he doesn't come it could not be a breach of contact because the terms of the contract were always "subject to the issuing of a NOC (no objection certificate) by the BCB", which meant that Sussex had legally accepted that the BCB had a veto. However, if he plays for another side during the period he was meant to be contracted to Sussex, then although I am not a lawyer, I'd be pretty sure that fb would be correct - that would indeed be a breach of contract. Good luck trying to pursue a case against Mr Fiz and the BCB in a Banglasdeshi court; but Sussex should at the very least ask the ECB to lodge a formal complaint against the BCB with the ICC. In the meantime, Sussex really needs to move on - and fast. How much clearer do the player and his board need to make it that Mr Fiz has absolutey zero desire or enthusiasm to play in England this summer ? I'm not sure Luke Wright helped by boasting in English media that Sussex had got the deal of the century by signing him at a bargain basement price just before he became one of the hottest properties in global T20. A 'good news' message to give Sussex members about the club's smart housekeeping. But a bad idea to plant in the minds of Mr Fiz's agent and the BCB!

I vote that the moderator closes this thread and only opens it again if or when he dons a Sussex shirt.

Can we take legal action for all the wasted effort writing on this thread?

If we do pull the plug does that mean we can go for another overseas or does Rahman still count as one of the quota? I do hope so as Wiese is off at end of month.

It isn't Sussex's fault; but on the other hand, the club hasn't covered itself in glory in how it has reacted.
1. It was announced that Sussex were "very happy" for The Fiz to have a rest after the IPL and to delay his arrival and miss a few matches.
2. Then when there was a further delay, Sussex let it be known that they were playing hard ball and were threatening the BCB that his non-arrival jeopardised the prospect of other BL players getting contracts in English cricket.
3. We were told he would make his debut on June 10 v Kent.
4. Then we were told he would make his debut v Glos at Arundel on June 26.
5. Asked if Fiz's religious requirement to fast until July 5 and his desire to spend the all-important Eid festival with his family were impediments, CEO Toumasi insensitively insisted that it was not an issue.
6.Meanwhile, the Sussex captain undiplomatically announced in the press that the club had been super-smart to sign Fiz on a bargain basement fee just before his IPL performance had sent his price through the roof. I'm not sure that honest admission impressed either his agent or the BCB.
And I haven't even mentioned the added disincentive of the sacking/resignation of the batting coach whom Fiz was so looking forward to working with...
OK, that last one's a joke. But as soon as his willingness to put on a Sussex shirt was thrown into doubt (which was actually back in May, well before the IPL had even finished), Sussex should have simply said: "We hope he is still coming, but we don't know. Under the terms of his contract it is out of our hands and entirely down to the BCB whether they issue an NOC or not."
Instead, the club looks like it has been played for a fool as every unrealised assertion has buried its ostrich-head even deeper in the sand.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.... www.theargus.co.uk/sport/14566846.Sussex_want_an_answer_on_Rahman/?ref=rssDavis says: “It hasn’t been easy to nail Bangladesh down. Their coach has been the one I have got most direction from. But we are also dealing with physios and trainers who are putting things on the internet. I am sure we will get it nailed down.” That suggests there isn't a single authoritative "Bangladesh position" and perhaps there won't be any answers forthcoming if noone takes responsibility. As I posted a little while ago I get the feeling this young man is being manipulated by others and that is not a very good augury for the development of his career, particularly in Asia where there is less overt regulation of the game. I'm sorry for him, but I think Sussex should wash their hands of it all now, even if there is no other high profile alternative available.

Why isn't Keith Greenfield on a plane to Bangladesh - right now - to resolve this Fizzy problem once and for all? Impersonal phone calls are a cop-out. Show Sussex supporters that you mean business. We have an opportunity of reaching the T20 QFs and with Fizz that chance dramatically improves - especially without Jordan or Mills. Phoning Bangladesh is doing little to improve the present situation. Sussex CCC take control! Special deal or no dealOtherwise, as Hhs suggests, it's welcome ELP or should that be... No need to waste £459 if he was really keen on playing for Sussex he would be here already. The fact he is still in Bangladesh speaks massive volumes with regards to his commitment to Sussex. Time for Sussex to end this circus and move on by signing a player who actually wants to play for Sussex.

Let's now show a little dignity and withdraw our offer.

Cv,
I disagree.
By flying over and meeting up with Fizz's entourage + speaking directly to Mr Fizz, face to face, and saying 'You have committed to Sussex CCC' may make a massive difference. At present, it is humiliating for Sussex. We are being treated like fools. Time to regain our pride and take back control of the situation.
Having Mr Fizz playing for us could be the difference between Sussex reaching T20 Finals Day and not. I don't understand this rolling over and giving up so lamely.
