Did Murray Goodwin phone in his batting coaching tips from Down Under today? He was working in the nets with the players but I am sure you all saw that. Hollis in the Argus said he was arriving from Australia "in time for the opening Championship game against Northamptonshire on April 10." If he's turned up early for the friendlies, then that's something at least...

Seems like the bowling was rather ineffective, but as one or two have been carrying knocks, they probably weren't giving it their all. I suppose it's all about fitness at this stage. Interesting that Luke Wells batted down the order, something I've been advocating for a while now. Having said that, I expected us to bring in another opener, but that didn't happen, so it looks like being Nash and Joyce. Fair enough, they are by far the best pairing we have available, even though Ed is probably a reluctant opener these days. It's a bit short term as well, not only does he not want to do it, but will he be here next season? There's also his increasingly frequent trips to Ireland, not ideal when you're looking to find a settled pairing. As I said though, they are the only genuine candidates.
