As posted by softandfluffy ( unofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/post/16551/thread) Jim Anyon has now left the club. Whatever the reasons for the lack of public announcement it should be in order to make a small tribute to a player who raised his game on coming to Sussex and twice reached 50 wickets in a season, forming effective partnerships first with Amjad, then with Magoffin and Jordan, most successfully in 2013 when these three all took over 50 wickets. Without being wholly consistent he was capable of extreme pace at times and bowled some very effective spells, although always likely to give runs away with his attacking short-pitched bowling. It is interesting that he found his metier with Sussex entirely as a red ball bowler, only appearing in 11 short-form games, whereas at Warwickshire, and briefly Surrey, his best results were in one-day games. He took 199 first-class wickets for Sussex at 32.38 in 63 games. For his other counties he took 105 at 37.67, as well as 37 List A and 25 T20 wickets. He also developed a reputation for resourceful tail-end batting, hitting exuberantly whenever he could, but always providing resolution and often supporting middle-order batsmen to rebuild a Sussex innings and make it something worthwhile. For Sussex he scored 1086 runs at 16.45. Good luck Jim in everything you do and thanks for the fun.

Just listened to him being interviewed on radio Sussex. It seems his ankle injury had cleared up but he then developed inflammatory arthritis in his knees. A sad way for a great Sussex player to bow out but I wish him all the best for the future.

Good luck, Jimmy.
Not sure why the club has only just made the announcement. If Steve Hollis hadn't 'leaked' the news, would we still be none the wiser?
My abiding memory of Jimmy is when, a couple of years ago at Horsham, we were trying to bowl Surrey out on the last day, he ended their very stubborn resistance by finally speadeagling RHB's stumps. Cue massive celebrations round the ground!

Ohhhhhhh Jimmy Jimmy, Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy An-ey-on. Maybe not.
He's probably set up a new career and had another three kids by now. Good luck to him anyway, whenever he left.
Sussex are weird and secretive with many things these days. It's as if they don't welcome my thoughts.
