Good to see Muzza listed on a Sussex team sheet again! I wonder if he'll don the pads?

Surprised nobody has mentioned the name MJG Rippon from that list. Has he come back? Did he ever leave? Is it the same dude?
What are the scores, George Dawes?

Surrey lead by 21 with six wickets left. Three for Jack Nicholson.

Plays and lives in the area, my guess is he's making up the numbers We don't have a large enough squad to field a second eleven team of our own, and academy players will still be in school

Salt and Wells currently storming away in the 4th innings (not sure why since they've passed the combined Surrey scores, but the rules of 2 day second eleven cricket are arcane) to the tune of 70 in 8 overs. Salt in the lead with 3 6s to go with his 4 4s, Wells just the 4 4s. Playing for a place?

Good to see Ansari back; he'd have played for England over the winter but for the injury.
Now he's fit again Moeen Ali is going to have to score a lot more runs and take a lot more wickets than he did for England over the winter if he's going to keep his place.
I've seen a bit of this lad Ansari over the last few years and I reckon his biggest asset is his temperament, which I'd liken to that of Cook and Root - in other words he'll step up to the highest level and won't be fazed.
On the Sussex side, let's hope Salt makes leaps and bounds this season. Apparently Sussex see him as "our Jason Roy" - in other words he's being coached and encouraged to be a power-hitter in the mode of modern one-day batsmanship in which it's all about strong forearms and turbo-charged bat speed - a style in which Sussex doesn't really have anyone apart from Luke Wright.
Sussex need Salt to succeed in that role for the T20 batting frankly is paper-thin - Wright (if fit), Nash, Machan and Taylor is a decent quartet. But after that Sussex are struggling. Joyce has retired from T20 , Wells isn't up to it as a power hitter, Cachopa's form has slumped horribly, and Finch has played 14 T20 games in which he has scored just 136 runs at an unacceptably sluggish strike rate of 103.
That makes Sussex one of the weakest white ball batting sides of all 18 counties, so it's all down to Phil Salt...

No pressure there then BM, but yes, we are woefully short of big hitters in the T20, so it's good to see Sussex are trying to address this from within

Can't remember if if I've pointed that out before.

Let's hope Sussex haven't been naive about the extent of Luke Wright's injury, it does seem a little optimistic that he'll be playing again so soon following his planned surgery on Monday. Without him, we'll likely not win a game in the T20

And he seems to be doing rather well at it.

Indeed, and a good knock for Wells too. Good to see a Sussex side being so dominant.
I can see Salt being a great addition to our white ball campaigns.

I guess we'll continue to monitor trialists in these type of games, at least until the academy lads are free of their educational commitments Of the 4 on display against Sussey, probably only Hale would have impressed enough, to warrant us having a further look. Wilson, though, did produce fairly economical figures. I'm sure when the likes of Haines, Doram and Jenner are available, they will be regulars in the seconds, as we don't have a big enough squad to field a second eleven full of contracted players. Incidently, does Jenner no longer keep wicket? I know he used to keep, but I've heard he's a superb ground fielder, and rarely keeps these days.

If I were Phil Salt I would change my name to Philipo Saltio, tell Davis I was born in South Africa, to Portuguese parents, which enables me an EU passport. That's the best way to get a game.
