I guess we'll continue to monitor trialists in these type of games, at least until the academy lads are free of their educational commitments Of the 4 on display against Sussey, probably only Hale would have impressed enough, to warrant us having a further look. Wilson, though, did produce fairly economical figures. I'm sure when the likes of Haines, Doram and Jenner are available, they will be regulars in the seconds, as we don't have a big enough squad to field a second eleven full of contracted players. Incidently, does Jenner no longer keep wicket? I know he used to keep, but I've heard he's a superb ground fielder, and rarely keeps these days. I expect Billings, Doram, Gordon, Haines, Jenner, Oxley, Rawlins, Smith, Twine and Ward to all get some 2XI action this season.

If I were Phil Salt I would change my name to Philipo Saltio, tell Davis I was born in South Africa, to Portuguese parents, which enables me an EU passport. That's the best way to get a game. Hasn't done Cachopa much good so far this season Well if we've learnt anything from Northants maybe it will be to include an extra batter, regardless of whether Nash is back. So Cachopa or Saltio. Bet it's Cachopa.

1. Will our out-of form first team batsmen play on Monday? 2. Is there room for all of them? 3. There should be as we only bat down to six.

They better bloody win. Give Beer the ball, a lot, and tell him to bowl his way into the first team.

Just one batter from the first team playing for the seconds today - Wells. Worcs 183-4 right now, Beer got two in two balls, 6-18-2. That's 5-27 in all seconds cricket so far for him.
Someone called Winslade has gone for 50 odd runs off six overs and we've conceded an astonishing 42 extras with 22 no-balls, so far. That is completely unacceptable for any side, never mind a second eleven professional side. The mind boggles.

260-4 and another six no-balls in the process. Jesus, the white line the white line!
Unless Beer's been told he ain't gonna feature in 4 day cricket, I don't know what we're doing with him. Wells, Finch and now Rippon are doing most the bowling now, Beer's still only bowled six. Why aren't we bowling him more man? I don't get the point, the strategy or the plan. They're pretty much the same thing I know but I wanna label the point.

Jack Winslade; 21 year old England U19 all-rounder. Came through Surrey youth, played 1 list A and was then released at the end of 2014. Now on the staff at Essex. We are obviously trialing him but with figures of 8-1-65-1 with 11 no balls ( 22 runs ) one hopes he can bat!

Landslide's not making much a case, but then he's probably just a slip of a lad.. Tongue's next in for Worcs, which speaks volumes.

Other than Will Beer, who had another decent return, not many of those bowlers will be pushing for a first team slot

5-56 off 19 - statement needed, statement made. He was a better wicket taker than container though which is obviously an issue within the Sussex mindset right now.
Just heard a recent interview with Davis, where he talks about the importance of a containing bowler early season in a five man attack (waster) and that hopefully Briggs can take some wickets if the pitches get drier. Unbelievable.
CP could be right, Beer isn't even under consideration, regardless. If that's true though, what does that say of our second eleven that the best bowler by a country mile ain't fit for purpose? What are all those other time-wasters doing there except bowling a multitude of no-balls - 30 in the end.

If we are going to play five bowlers they all need to take wickets. You don't need a containing bowlers in championship cricket. Beer can do no more than he has done today. Why he continues to be overlooked for the championship team is a mystery to me.
