England ODI team could be Hales, Roy, Root, Morgan (c), Bairstow, Buttler (wk), Ali, Rashid, Woakes, Jordan, Willey. Willey's not a bad number 11!

The outcome of today's first 50 over game should determine whether there is any value in the accumulation of points spread across the three formats . So far England lead by 10 points to 2, with 2 points at stake for each of the five 50 over games and the solitary T20. It is mathematically possible for Sri Lanka to win - and I can't remember now if anyone put up a trophy or an award for this - but only if they win as convincingly at white ball as they were outclassed with the red. Losing Eranga will not help them, and the England team ought to benefit from the new blood now available to them.
Those with most to gain for England are Morgan, who needs to find some credibility before his career simply dwindles to nothing; Buttler, who has fallen a long way from the high estate of 2015, and Jordan, who will be keen to show that he can be a master at 50 overs as he is at T20.

Poor decision as it weakens the batting with Willey having to bat out of position at number ten! Jordan dropped because he doesn't play for Yorkshire. Considering five of the eleven are from Yorkshire it is a mystery why Yorkshire's one day form is so poor.

He will probably need a three month rest after this ODI series.

Brilliant from Plunkett but that was the worst bit of fielding the ball before I have ever seen on a cricket pitch. He took 3 days to get the ball in and they got three when they should never have got more than two.

What a piss poor batting performance from England. and what a great peformance by Roy and Hales three days later. did my ears deceive me or in the man of the match presentation did Roy refer to his opening partner as 'Hales'? Not 'Halesy' or 'Halo' ... but Hales. seriously radical...

Didn't go swimmingly for Halo today - joker went for a golden. Something I've never done, although last week I ran myself out without facing - I'm not sure if that's better or worse but it felt like it was probably better.
Anywho, I've noticed that all three 50 over games have attracted a full house, which is very encouraging and bad news for all the 50 over haters out there - that's everyone but me and all those people at the grounds, I think.
We'd have licked these sorry muthers today. We're hot hot hot right now.

It's the 50 over county matches that attract poor audiences; because CC watchers regard it as new fangled pyjama cricket, and T20 watchers find it too slow.

Shut it Flash.
Our batting is so powerful, with more to come in, like Stokes. We're onto something special in one-day cricket with this team I believe. Just noticed Root's shirt number is 66, so at least one of them is a frigging comedian too. They got it all, wise guys.
