Same ol' same ol'. Our bowlers hold their heads up high. Our senior batsmen hold their's in shame. Exciting final overs though. As Adrian Harms says, "What might have been!" WE NEED A BATTING COACH!!

A case of what might have been as Archer, Shahzad, Beer and Briggs showed the likes of Joyce, Wright, Nash, Brown and Jordan that it wasn't a minefield after all.

WE NEED A BATTING COACH!!We would rather waste money on a Bangladeshi that take months to turn up, plays two games, gets injured and then to add insult injury then pay for his rehabilitation. It would be funny if it wasn't so farcical. We won't start being successful again on the pitch until we drop this ridiculous notion of being a family. A family doesn't lose 10% of its members every year! Sussex is supposed to be a professional and commercial sports club. To get the best out of the players they need to be put in an environment where they are under pressure to perform or face someone taking their place.

All this talk of a batting coach, what do you really think he could do? Don't you think the players themselves should be capable of looking how they have performed? Or is that asking too much? They can watch current players, Joe Root for example. Or am I being stupid? I've been listen to Trescothic he was saying he was working with Tom Abell to sort things out earlier in the season. Are our players unwilling or incapable of a) doing this, b) too selfish c) they don't ask? Somerset don't have a batting coach according to the web site. It's not difficult to ask someone, is it? The players either don't care or are in the comfort zone. What we need is a new coach from outside which would in turn force the batsmen to stand up and perform or face the sack as they would be in any other club within a professional sports environment.

Luke Wright could have pre recorded his post match interview at the beginning of the season and played it on a loop.
Nothing learned, nothing changed, nothing doing.

Play only five batsmen in a 50 over game and you are in trouble. Play only five batsmen who are in poor form and you are in deeper trouble. Play five batsmen, two of which fail to score and secure a return of 75 in total from the five and you are lost. We cannot bat.

We certainly can't chase and what bothers me is that Wright seems completely oblivious to that - that or stubborn. I know it wasn't his choice yesterday by the way.
Again our bowlers, particularly the inexperienced young one, put the shift in. Our batsmen are horrific, they have no idea what they are doing and are being poorly led and coached. As for Wright at four, no. Coming in at 50-2 he doesn't know what to do, he doesn't wanna play his natural game for fear of getting out. If you don't play your natural game you're asking for trouble.
Yeah I meant Machan to open when he's fit Joe, and CP, I'd just bring in Haines, H-P, Whittingham and Garton (when he's fit) and leave out 'old men' Joyce, Nash, Shahzad and Briggs, who isn't old but is very boring and has no role in the team. I'd also leave out Wright, give Brown the captaincy experience and bring in Wells as an all-rounder. And H-P and Finch would bowl too.
Machan Salt Haines Finch Wells Brown H-P Archer Beer Garton Whittingham
Something like that. Why not? Our seniors are so scarred and fearful, yet again they have overseen us coming bottom of the group, how many chances do they get? Last season we had to put up with the horrendous decision of bringing in Alfonzo Thomas to oversee the failure but worse than that, we then carried on playing the guy when the tournament was gone rather than blooding players like Whittingham. So backwards and retarded. Do the right thing for once Sussex.
