It seems extraordinary but the answer is...perhaps it is just possible.
Six counties are still in with a shout. Games played followed by pts:-
Essex 12 171 Leics 12 148 Kent 12 147 Worcs 12 137 Glouc 11 135 Sssx 11 131
40 pts off the top might sound like a bridge too far...
But Sussex have a game in hand - and it is against Glamorgan next week, one of the three sides who are out of the chase and are competing to avoid the wooden spoon.
Win at Cardiff and Sussex could potentially find themselves in second place - and with their fate in their own hands because their final four matches are against four of the top five, namely Leics, Kent, Worcs and Glos.
Essex look favourites due to points on the board. But , along with Sussex, they have toughest run-in and have to play Worcs, Leics and Kent in addition to Glamorgan. Kent also have a tough run-in with Glos, Essex and Sussex and only Northants among the non-contenders.
But don't write-off Glos. If they can re-group after their poor showing at Hove , they are the only contender with games against all three bottom counties , Glam, Derbys and Northants.
Leics also have a much easier run-in than Essex/Kent/Sussex with games against Derbyshire and Glamorgan, as do Worcs with fixtures against Northants and Derbys.
If I was setting odds, I'd probably go something like:
Essex - evens
Leics - 2-1
Kent 3-1
Worcs 4-1
Glos 5-1
Sussex 5-1
But If Sussex and/or Glos win their games in hand next week against Glam and Glos respectively, they would move up to second and third in the betting...
After a dimsal start to the season - not only for Sussex but for the entire div two with 80 per cent of games ending in draws - we could be in for a gripping climax.

Our last four games are in fact against Kent, Leicester, Worcs and Glos.
The post-match interview with Luke was revealing. He accepts that Brown is best at seven and implies that we will sign an all-rounder at six next year.
With Finch And Machan out of the running, he also hints that Davis will get another chance.
Jordan seems set to be replaced with Whittingham or Garton, with no mention of Robinson.

You've changed the fixtures and the odds in your original post. Be difficult by all means but don't be disingenuous.

Still not a frigging clue what you are on about.
Be straightforward, by all means. But don't be esoteric.

Your original post had us playing Essex for a third time this year and two -to -one on for the title. You changed it. Fine. Straightforward enough for you?

Now that everyone from Luke Wright to the experts like me on here have realised that Wiese is the key to success in the longer form, we could well do. Losing Jordan is gonna be a blow though. He may well have been ordinary in his first 20 overs of the last two games but all you can ask of a good player is that they come back stronger, which he did.
Hopefully we won't do what some of the experts on here want to do and play Robinson instead of the much more deserving pair of Whittingham or Garton. It's clear what we need to do regarding selection - if it looks flat drop Mags and play the other youngster. We will not, of course.

We could live in the hope that Essex's run in is damaged by a wet September. However, in Division 2, you can't be stuck in Durham, Lancashire or Yorkshire at the back end of the season. A wet Midlands, while we are in Wales, followed by squally showers coming off the North Sea and a monsoon in late September to hit the South East (but not the South West).
While we are away to Glamorgan, they are away to Leicestershire. While we are home to Kent, they are home to Worcestershire While we are away to Leicestershire, they don't play While we are home to Worcestershire, they are home to Glamorgan While we are away to Gloucestershire, they are away to Kent

HE'S HERE! You can even book him for an appearance. Let's grab some shillings and ask him to appear in the Spen Cama Pavilion next week to offer us his September weather forecast! www.michael-fish.com
