The ECB and Specsavers have continued their annual poll from last year of Ones to Watch www.ecb.co.uk/news/articles/specsavers-one-watch-contenders (players under 23) and these include 3 players who have all featured against Sussex this year: Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence and Jamie Porter. Inexplicably they have failed to include Jofra Archer. Perhaps they are saving him for next year's poll. However, this poll for members of the forum is not confined by age or nationality. It is for you to nominate and then vote on players performing for or against Sussex in matches you have seen or heard, thanks to the wonders of Adrian Harms and BBC Radio Sussex, or viewed through that single camera at Cardiff. Nominations are open from now on and once we have a shortlist of eight - the same as the ECB/Specsavers young players list - I will set up the poll for aggregate voting. The criterion is simple yet highly personal: the player who made the most impact on you this year. It might be Ed Joyce for his cumulative performances, or it might be a player who turned a particular match for or against Sussex (Duckett and Porter both might have claims here), or the one whose promise seems greatest. I will set things off with the first nomination: Jofra Archer for re-introducing the wow factor to Sussex.

My Sussex awards go to:
Player of the year: Ben Brown Young player of the year: Jofra Archer Batsman of the year: Chris Nash Bowler of the year: Steve Magoffin Breakthrough player of the year: George Garton
There were too many candidates to chose from for the wooden spoon and the ' gone backwards ' award.

I got one right!
Why isn't there a members player of the year?

I got one right! Why isn't there a members player of the year? Hmm, sounds like you're looking for some democratic input . . .
