There is a scam operating currently where malware is attached to an otherwise quite legal advertisement which then redirects you, probably without your clicking on it, to a page where the scam takes place - a con job devised to take money from you. The malware doesn't seem to leave a virus on your own computer so your scanning protection software will not detect it. I've reported it to ProBoards and they advise to take the following action:
If you're logged in to the forum and this happens, click out of the scam site and back to the forum straight away. Click on the blue Report Ad link at the very bottom of any page. This will then open up a screen which tells you about the reporting procedures and includes a list of the most recent log-ins, as in illustration below. Click on the most recent one and then ProBoards Support staff can identify the exact time and location of the offending ad and ban it. You should have no further trouble*.
Note that if you do have AdBlock or similar software installed you will have to disable it for the report page, as well as for the forum pages so that the offending link shows.

Further note: the site I was redirected to is called TheBritMoneyMethod and seems to be well-known. Do NOT follow up links on Google for "removing" this redirect by any other means as they in turn are cons designed to make you spend money on useless software which probably will infect your machine!
