I am told by a reliable source that Peter Moores has informally sounded out Swann about coming out of retirment for the rest of the series v India, but that Swann has declined.
As a result, Simon Kerrigan will be named in a 14 man squad for the Lord's Test (whether he will actually play is another matter).
Part of this jigsaw relates to Sussex: with Kerrigan having jumped ahead of Adam Riley in the twirling order, the only England call on Riley will be as a net bowler on days when Kent are not playing, hence Kent are ready to extend Tredwell's loan, which confirms Yardy's claim on TV last night that Tredders is already inked in to play ay Horsham v Warwicks next week.

The next time I have an awkward jigsaw puzzle to complete I will call upon you, borderman. As for Moores attempts to suborn Swann, you have only to listen to the man (Swann) on TMS to appreciate how comfortable he is now, and how swiftly his former life has become material for an engaging raconteurage.

Kerrigan's addition to the squad for Lord's has now been confirmed. I'd expect the announcement that Tredwell's loan has been extended to come within the next 24/48 hours. Jordan is highly unlikely to play and it will be down to Robinson whether he demands our man is released to play v Warwicks at Horsham. (See Andy Wilson in The Guardian: "England are in an unfamiliar and occasionally tricky position this season as only six of the current squad are centrally contracted, meaning they are relying on the goodwill of county coaches such as Dougie Brown at Warwickshire and Mark Robinson at Sussex to release their players when required.")

bm,
What a fascinating position for Robinson to find himself in. Personally, I would demand to have Jordan at Horsham if he's not playing. But, all down to the inevitable and when Anderson and Broad eventually break down.
Re: Swann, I gather he's made it clear for awhile that he can't continue as a spin bowler due to injury. Swann can't rotate his elbow and gain the necessary revs. I believe, he has and will be playing in various charity matches during the summer but more as a gentle medium pacer. Although, no harm in Moores asking.
Certainly, the choice of Kerrigan is a big risk for the Lords game and shows Moores desperation. One has stated for some time that this dearth of England spinning talent must be squarely blamed at the County door where for too long the seam approach has dominated and been encouraged.
