Will does it again. When I next see his new girlfriend she deserves a massive hug. Will's maturing fast. Do you mean like Wallis Simpson initiating Edward VIII into practices he'd never experienced and decided were worth giving up the crown for???

Beer v Goodwin. This could be interesting. Goodwin showing him much respect.
4 overs, 3 wickets, 14 runs. Brilliant! Makes a mockery of the seamers.
Beer has a confidence and maturity not noted before. Dare one say even a swagger in a Beer timid kinda way. This can be down to various things including a stable, loving and healthy relationship. But I may be talking b*lox.
Goodwin smashing Nash to all parts and the run rate goes back up again. now making mincemeat of Liddle. One feels rather sentimental watching him bat at Hove again.
He's gone. A rather apologetic shot to long on and Machan takes the catch.
edit. Mags gets the prized wicket of Rudolph. An excellent Yorker. Sussex fighting back. If it ends below 150 score a good result. Mags final tally 1-26. Better than Yasir in recent games.
edit. Liddle just bowled a wide that is indescribable.
Last over. 146-6. Hatchett bowls it. Do or die? 8 runs or 20. Where does your money lye?
W 1 1 1 W 2
I bow down to you axe man. Well done Lewis. I would have lost my money. 151-8. A par score. The Kent game all over again?

Beer has the best strike rate of any Sussex batsman in this year's competition and the best economy rate of any Sussex bowler.
Magoffin bowled exactly the same as he does with a red ball - line and length at his regular pace with a litte nibbling movement. No slow ball bouncers, back of the handers or any other Dernbach-type variations that ask to be smacked out of the park.
Two questions for Robinson.
1) Why has Beer been dismissed as incapable of transfering his skills to the four day game? (Six LVCC games in seven seasons is not enopugh to prove anything either way - why have you not even tested him?)
2) Why has Magoffin not been asked to play T20 in three seasons before today and it took an injury to an expensive and under-performing overseas star for him to make his debut?

I reckon Nash will have few fond memories of the 2014 T20 campaign. Out for a usual low score (11). Chris Adams was in deep conversation with Tony Cottey in the Media Centre earlier. CA: Gizza job! TC: Look boyo, the powers that be reckon... CA: Gizza job! TC: You need to change your alpha male to more an omega gamma man, boyo... CA: Gizza job! etc, etc.. Edit. Wright hits a massive six. The scorers including the inimitable Dr Andrew Hignell get a short back and sides. Let's see if Cachopa is a heffalumpa. Yep, a massive six from our Kiwi friend. Another lump of brick taken out of a residents house. 46 off 5 overs compared to Glamorgan's 49. Game on. Wow! Heffalumpa hits 3 fours in 3 balls. There is an air of Brendan McCullum about him. Great 6th over. 17 off it! Cachopa gets carried away. Good bowling. Is stumped. There was enough tonight to show a very exciting prospect in the wings.

Currently 3-10 from 3 overs. At this rate, Moores and Whittaker are going to call him up to the England Test team before Robinson can bring himself to admit that Will deserves a place in the Sussex four day side! Only if the national spin bowling lead Coach (or some other ridiculous title), Petre Such, is not heeded: "Sadly, at the moment spin bowlers tend to get their opportunities in Twenty20, which doesn't help them when they are trying to take wickets in the longer form. In Twenty20, you are looking to try to get ball underneath bat, not give it as much air, whereas in longer form of the game, you have to spin it and challenge the outside edge and the inside edge of the bat." How can England find new breed of spinner like Graeme Swann?

Lukey on fire. He stays in and we win the match. 63 runs from 60 balls required at the half way stage.
edit. Excellent bowling from Allenby. Sussex got a bit becalmed now. Who else but Wrighty breaks the deadlock with a 4 then 6 then 4, then 4. Wow, He's class! 19 off the over. Becalmed?? 36 to win.
Edit. You can't relax for a minute. Wright out for 66 off 39 deliveries. Come on Brownie, take us over the line. Machan in on the act. A scintillating cover drive for 4. 27 off 6 overs required. Surely, we can do this?
edit. Beautiful in out cover drive from Brown. A win is getting ever closer.135-4.
It's never simple. Brown out, in walks Beer to a noisier applause than Goodwin. I reckon we've found a new hero. It would be justice if Beero scores the winning runs.
edit. 12 off 3 overs. Come on Will finish it off with 2 sixes!
Almost there. Delightful 4 from Machan.
edit. Main scoreboard crashes. There's technology for you! 4 runs to win.
Wahey! A much deserved win. Beer and Wright the heroes of the night. And fittingly Beer scores the winning runs. GOSBTS.

Enjoyed watching that on Sky Sports. But the T20 averages are revealing. Luke Wright has 332 runs. No other Susssex batsman has 200.
The bowling has been OK and Beer and Piolet taking 28 wkts between them while only conceding 6 and a bit per over has been outstanding.
But we're never going to win anything with only one batsman who can biff the ball out of the ground. Cachopa briefly suggested we may have found another batsman who can clear the ropes. But apart from Wright, Sussex's T20 batting has been limp for two seasons now.
Beer man of the match for the second time in five days. I'm inclined to agree with fraudster now -forget about extending Tredwell's loan. Let's give Beer a chance with the red ball. Really worrying to hear Mark Butcher just say post-match on Sky Sports that if Sussex won't give him a chance in four day cricket, he needs to move somewhere else.

Another excellent performance from Will Beer. Beer and Piolet have done well in the middle of the innings to haul them back after they got away at the start. Wright batted excellently tonight. Fittingly Beer scored the winning runs.

Just home and watching Sky, interestingly Nick Knight has just told Will Beer to get some Championship cricket by going out on loan to a Div two side if necessary. He thinks Will has improved dramatically but needs regular cricket to advance further.

Just seen the bit where Butcher also said he needs to go out on loan, and Chris Adams says he needs a bit more confidence. How can he lack confidence when he is so highly rated by his coach, oh, wait....

Wells, back to 4 day cricket. Who will want to take him so he can play 20/20? No one. Makes contract talks interesting!
Beer. Go out on loan. Robbo has done so little to help you in 4 day cricket. Listen to the old sky pros. Your stock is high, sell yourself.

Well I think the Wells return catch was grounded. Indeed...it was replayed several times with no comment from the very talkative sky commentators which was telling. Nobody said brilliant catch. But nobody said.hang on a minute that's hit the ground. sky commentators know much about will beer having seen him in a couple of t20s ,whereas his coaches know nothing after five years of red ball cricket. Only Chris Adams ventured to mention his diffidence and lack of confidence. In his eight or nine championship games that has been evident .... sunil ill narine is the best t20 bowler in the world but finds first class cricket much tougher. Mushy on the other hand with his high action, bounce and big turn was much more effective in first class cricket. will may yet break through but I find the comments about his coaches a little presumptuous and I hope will has more confidence in them than sky commentators.. It was nice to here Adams big up the Sussex team including especially the back room and the family nature of their support.
