Well I think the Wells return catch was grounded. Indeed...it was replayed several times with no comment from the very talkative sky commentators which was telling. Nobody said brilliant catch. But nobody said.hang on a minute that's hit the ground. sky commentators know much about will beer having seen him in a couple of t20s ,whereas his coaches know nothing after five years of red ball cricket. Only Chris Adams ventured to mention his diffidence and lack of confidence. In his eight or nine championship games that has been evident .... sunil ill narine is the best t20 bowler in the world but finds first class cricket much tougher. Mushy on the other hand with his high action, bounce and big turn was much more effective in first class cricket. will may yet break through but I find the comments about his coaches a little presumptuous and I hope will has more confidence in them than sky commentators.. It was nice to here Adams big up the Sussex team including especially the back room and the family nature of their support. Chris Adams said he lacked confidence in himself, when your county coach doesn't trust you and keeps bringing spinners in on loan, when he only gives you the odd game out of desperation and you know each one is make or break you are going to lack confidence and your performance will suffer as a result. He needs to be given a fair shot at it, now.

I don't think your comments are really fair on the coaches mrs Doyle...I think Will has to show dominance in the second team and build his self confidence. Getting hammered in county championship ( which has happened) will dent his confidence more... Mark Davis will tell Robbo when he thinks he is ready.
However he has shown a great deal of improvement this season ...indeed his batting has shown real confidence in t20 and it is recognized that his play is on an upswing. But if we are talking about Horsham on Monday rather than tredwell I believe that decision wil fall to joyce ( based on advice from Robbo and davo)....I really am not in a position to even venture a thought on that one. But I would hate for Will today and go wicketless again.
With Will I hope and believe he will get there and as a result I would not want Ollie back or try to sign tredders long term. This 50 over competition will come at a great time for Will.
There are those who have not transitioned from white to red ball eg Liddle...I think Wills allrounder game gives him a much better chance but the idea of giving him a long run now just might not be the best plan, especially if it doesn't go well straight away...might do more harm than good a la Kerrigan. The plan of lending him to a div 2 side won't work because all have a spinner they wish to play.

Wally, I've just looked back at the games Beer has played, where and the type of wickets. Only 1 has been in his favour, Worcester? He did OK then? The rest seamers paradise or dead. He's not a defensive bowler, his type aren't. So he's not going to be a maiden after maiden bowler. More like 4-80 off 15. Remember wickets win games! Look back at his 2nd team performances. He has shown dominance.
He needs a proper run, not 1 or 2 games but the rest of the season?
