Glad Australia decared with Handscomb not out on 40. If Smith had allowed him to score one more run he would have jumped ahead of Bradman with a Test average of 100.
As it is, after four Tests he sits 0.19 behind the Don with an average of 99.75...
Next winter's Ashes is already shaping up as a contest to savour - and Australia's two new batting stars, Renshaw and Handscomb, versus England's new hopes, Jennings and Hameed, is going to be just one of the fascinating battles within the broader context of the series.
