On this forum we've tended to talk about the emergence of Delray Rawlins in the one-day internationals on this tour, but the team performance today in the first of the 4-day Tests is well worth some discussion. A good opening partnership of 57 by Holden and Brook was succeeded by a classically-built 2nd wicket stand between Holden and Bartlett, that first took the score to 165-1 at tea, with some patient batting, before blossoming in the final session to 311-1, a partnershiup of 254. Both batsmen are over 130 and there is Rawlins, and plenty more still to come.
Holden is a Middlesex player on loan to Northants for this coming season, as already noted, and Bartlett is a Millfield School boy, who has played for successive Somerset age-group sides up to second eleven level. He is 19 next month. Both seem to be very interesting prospects.

England declare on 501-5, leaving Rawlins 70 not out in his first Youth Test.Perhaps that is fitting for he couldn't hope to steal the thunder from Bartlett (179) and Holden (170), who put on 321 together for the second wicket, which must be some sort of record at this level. Perhaps coverpoint or joe , both of whom are immensely knowledgeable about Youth cricket will be able to help on this? Meanwhile Easy seems to have carried on in the same breezy way he did in the ODI's, with a strike rate of 74.46, 5 4s and 4 6s. His confidence must be sky high at the moment, and that is a wonderful thing in itself.

In an attempt to discover more about our Big Easy and his meteoric rise to fame, I note a very healthy looking wikipedia for someone so young. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delray_RawlinsHis young but quickly growing CV could not be better or more pronounced - from National Bermuda cricket at 15 years-old (!); a Scholarship to St Bede's School which allows an English passport; Sussex CCC Academy; now U19 cricket for England... If one had to 'design' the path of a highly successful professional cricketer from boy to man, the creator of this would be feeling pretty pleased with themselves. Unless, there is a fault in the creation of Big Easy's genome which stops him from developing and progressing at the age of 20, could we be looking at a future England International leaving aside a top top batsman for Sussex CCC? Or is this Delray simply too good to be true? He even shares his birthday (September 14th) with such cricketing greats as Robin Singh, Paul Allott, Jeff Crowe, Kepler Wessels, Rohul Sharma and Ravi Ashwin. Twittertwitter.com/delraw09?lang=en

Hhs, Unfortunately, a majority of the top ones with birthdays on September 14th are lying 10' beneath the earth! But seriously, Paul Allott, Kepler Wessels... less of the great but still worthy of a mention.
