Newly appointed, Jimmy Anyon www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/womens-jimmy-anyon-appointed-head-coach-of-the-sussex-women-s-teamAnyon succeeds Charlotte Burton, who stepped down in December. Hard not to look at this and think it is yet another job for one of the Sussex old boys, however talented, especially as in the very comprehensive detailing of coaches, assistant coaches and specialised coaching support available to the Sussex Women's squad, Alexia Walker is the only woman to be represented, with a sprinkling of women taking responsibility at progressively lower age groupings. Why is this? Are there no other good women coaches available, or aren't Sussex offering a good enough package, or is the women's game completely dominated by canny old pros who just happen to have been Sussex pace bowlers?
