Schedule now published. What is odd is the number of games played at Derby and Leicester, given the other venues are Bristol and Taunton. It looks as if two groups of sponsors have been found, one in the southwest and one in east midlands, and the market is divided between them. I can understand that the bigger TMGs already have congested fixture lists but why not look around other parts of the country for hosts whose own catchment areas could spread the appeal of the women's game? Why not Hove or Canterbury, or Durham or Scarborough?

Is this the only thread on this topic?? Apologies if I've missed another more active thread. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the England matches, especially yesterday's narrow win over South Africa. Just watch this brilliant stumping by Sarah Taylor: www.icc-cricket.com/womens-world-cup/video/439529

Well done to England for reaching the Final. The return of Taylor has made an important difference. And for Coach, Mark Robinson, his BIG moment has arrived. Win the Final and his place and respect is assured but another loss in a major tournament, who knows? In this Daily Telegraph article he admits that even he has been surprised by the team's progress, but says, “What has happened is that a lot of players have announced themselves to a wider audience as very fine international players who can win games. If nothing else happens from here, that is huge progress.” www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2017/07/17/englands-progress-has-surprised-even-says-mark-robinson-ahead/What is interesting, after 10 years at Sussex, are his non-interviews post England matches. How often does the Sussex coach take centre stage where, perhaps, only one senior player may be interviewed alongside him. At England, Robinson rarely gets a shout now and usually only at carefully controlled media events.

At England, Robinson rarely gets a shout now and usually only at carefully controlled media events. That is because he made such a disastrous and unpleasant start to his role at the time of his sacking of Charlotte Edwards and his belittling of the skills of his remaining players. It looks as if fences have now been mended and if he has stuck to his role as a traditional coach creating the background against which players can fully develop individual skills them it looks as if he has succeeded. To my mind the most remarkable and pleasurable thing ablout this recent success is the very successful return of Sarah Taylor after a year away from the game learning to cope with mental health issues. She is truly inspirational and deserves the praise and support of all cricket lovers not least in Sussex.

Torn between watching this or the Open, probably switch between the two but a big occasion for Woman's cricket today playing a final at Lords.

Torn between watching this or the Open, probably switch between the two but a big occasion for Woman's cricket today playing a final at Lords. I have to go out for an extended lunch today so will miss a large part of the Women's Final, but I'll be keeping in touch with the score and hope to watch the end of the match when I get back home. I've thoroughly enjoyed this tournament, and this old cricket cynic has found watching the Sky coverage a refreshing change from the usual stuff. Come on, England!

Fantastically close match. Nail biting last few overs. Great advert for the women's game.
England are World Cup Winners. Isn't anyone else following this?!

Yeah bloody well done. Years of following England's sporting chaps has left me completely inexperienced at celebrating competition victories so I feel a bit numb, in a good way.
Guess our ladies are mentally tougher than our gents - I don't care if that's sexist, do your worst leftie do-gooders.

India, on the other hand, panicked when victory was in sight.

A very exciting game and nice to see a close low scoring game rather than a high scoring one sided one. Well done to all concerned.
