Not much to be positive about from today's 50 over friendly with Somerset apart from Finch getting another 50 and Briggs taking another 3 wickets. The captain made a brief appearance but was bowled for one, no sign of Brown, Machan or Wells. Outplayed in all disciplines today.

Michael Burgess, presumably a trialist. www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/517549.htmlLast week it was a lad called Jake Hutson who I think played some 2nd team games for us last season.

Sussex fell 120 runs short of the Somerset total in today's 50 over game.
Wickets for Briggs and Beer and 50's for Burgess and Briggs and 49 for Finch the only Sussex highlights.

HH Jake Hutson Keeps wicket for Hartley who won the Kent Premiership title last season. He may have played a little for Kent 2nd's as well. I taught him when he was at Primary school. Alas, I cannot say it was my influence that made him a great cricketer, but he played in my Kwik Cricket team while at Primary School and he showed lots of ability at 11. Have followed his career as an interested Kent fan and would love to see him get to the top as he a lot of talent and has worked hard to get where he is!

Yes, far from our strongest side, but ditto Somerset, but already, all the same Issues from last season are there.

Burgess keeping wicket again today, he has looked tidy. One chance went down but would have been a sensational catch.
Tommy Hampton is playing today, looks like a useful bowler. Garton has looked very sharp but a bit wild.
A mention as well about Rawlins in the field, looks like the kinda guy that will save you 10 runs or so a match.

Could do with a decent spinner, I think we could do without another seamer though!

Magic, I couldn't agree more. Top heavy with seamers and seamer bowling coaches. Time to employ a specialist spinner coach? What's Mushy doing these days? If only, Robinson had not allowed Mason Crane to depart!

If only, Robinson had not allowed Mason Crane to depart! It wasn't Robinson who let Crane go it was one of the age group coaches. It was 7 years ago and he was 13 at the time. The sooner people get over the fact that he's gone the better! If we've still got communication with Mushy perhaps he could persuade Pakistans young leggie Shadab Khan to do a stint with us? He has some unbelievable figures from the last 2 T20i's against West Indies. 4-0-7-3 4-1-14-4
