Hh he broke down in first inns of leics match and then had a month on treatment table. According to surrey member Hugh sitting next to me. You know better than to believe the crap you read on message boards! Indeed, I do - which is why I posted the original Surrey comment about us "wanting" him, with tongue firmly in cheek. Thanks for the info, though, its good to know that Surrey still persist in believing in him, despite evidence to the contrary and despite the wealth of younger and perhaps more deserving talent they seem to have.

If there is any truth in this rumour, it will be for his ability as a death bowler in one day cricket Personally I'm not convinced we should sign someone on a permanent contract just because he can bowl a couple of tight bowlers at the end of an innings. We've enlisted two of the best in Gul and Arafat, with only limited success. It's less of a risk if it's an OS registered for the duration of the 20 20 campaign. Often players who acquire a reputation over a couple of tournaments as good death bowlers, turn out to be mrere mortals and no more effective than anyone else. In my opinion, we put too much emphasis on seam. This season, our line up looks lop sided with probably one too many seam bowlers in the T20. It clearly doesn't work and leaves us one short in the batting. If we are going to sign a seamer, I'd rather us go after a young seamer who does a bit with the ball and is effective in all formats.

Correct again...IMHO.

According to a Surrey member at Horsham today, Surrey have only offered Dernbach £75k for 2015, substantially down on his present contract. He's most unamused by this and so has started playing the field, including Sussex. But he was a bit shocked when Sussex told him their top whack was £60k, so he may stay at Surrey after all.
No idea if there is any truth in this or if it is utter bolax - the story came from a south Londoner, so perhaps should be regarded with extreme caution. But no harm in sharing the gossip on here!

Fingers crossed he does then
