Impressive early lead in the table by Northants, thrashing Glamorgan by an innings and 22 runs. Glamorgan batted atotal of only 97 overs in their two innings, and that after winning the toss and putting themselves in. A good match for Kleinveldt, top-scoring with 88 runs and 6 wickets, and for Ben Sanderson, who had an impressive 2016 and took a total of 7-51.
Glamorgan's batting looks awfully frail and if they're going to improve they need a few more Durhams in the divison.

Meanwhile Leicestershire's dismal start to the season continues, losing to Notts by 10 wickets. They did a little better than Glaorgan, their two innings lasting 105 overs for a total of 332 runs, but were also overwhelmed by an overseas player's star performance. Pattinson made 89not out, and took a total of 8-84. Broad took 4-54 in the match, and the rejuvenated Fletcher 5-77. Add to them Gurney, and Ball and a couple of other handy bowlers not playing and it is as enticing a fast bowling attack as Sussex. Trent Bridge on 21st April should give some good indications of which combination is strongest, and then its a wait until 25th September, which could be quite a finale to the season.
