Despite the best efforts of ProBoards in setting their fiendish registration conundrums to prevent electronic spammers gaining entry sometimes the site does get infiltrated by people with commercial and/or malicious intent. If you see a post like the one yesterday that has some fairly garbled wording but a prominent link attached and you're urged to go there...please don't. At best it will be to a gaming site masked as a site of cricket interest, and any details you are asked for there will certainly ensure you a lifetime's supply of junkmail or worse. It could also be with the intention of installing malware on your computer which will not only betray your personal information but will cause you a lot of grief and probably money before you are rid of it.
As Moderator I look at all new members details and rigorously ensure that there is no commercial advertising in the signatures, and try to keep a watch on posts. If you see a posting by someone new that seems to conform to the clickbait profile described above, please drop me a quick pm and I will act asap.

A bump for this thread. Yesterday a very determined spammer started 13 threads on the forum, all with the same message of sales promotion for something that was not cricket-related and may not have been legitimate in any sense. All threads have been deleted to avoid anyone clicking even accidentally on a site that may cause harm or distress, and the poster has been banned. Our policy remains to allow access to all those who comply with the Proboards entry algorithms, and of course subsequently comply with our own rules of conduct. Thanks to those members who reported it formally and contacte me by pm. You did the right thing and I hope that we were able to get rid of the nuisance without anyone being too badly inconvenienced.
