A phenomenal win for Sussex. So many positives to thrust the team forward and two-fingers to those doom-gloomers who were writing the team off after just 4 matches.
Delighted that Wright has got some runs under his belt. This will do his confidence no end of good; delighted for Mark Davis that two of his new signings have been match-winners for these last two games. Leaving aside Evans superb 134*, Finch scores 80, Archer takes 3-54; It couldn't be a better written script and result.
Onward to Sunday and Surrey where Sussex can meet their arch-rivals brimming with confidence. What a difference 5 days makes.
WAHEY!

Always enjoyable to revel in an unexpected win. @rosslawson03The damage caused from a thunderous @laurieevans32 six to bring up his ton. Been a superb effort for @sussexccc

Also judging from the twitter feed the club seems like it is now in possession of a pair of kidneys... Breakfast, anyone?

What happened to Briggs that Van Zyl bowled a full 10 overs? Is Brown going to be fit to play on Sunday? And please spare a thought for Harry Finch who held things together while the fireworks went off and just missed the savour of victory. I thought on several occasions last year that he would be the first Academy bat since Nash to really make good and I'm pleased that he is.

Don't mistake negativity for concern, the 'doom-gloomers' have 13 months of cricket to turn to, at least, you have two RLC games. Don't jump the gun.
Having said that, your posts on positivity and momentum have rung true for a couple of games but it's early days. I said we should bring Salt in for Evans, stating Evans is only a T20 player, and we can't chase - glad to be wrong today. A splendid innings from the man and pleased for Finch and Wright too. Believe we've missed a little trick with Salt though.
Surrey is a massive test and I won't be jumping on the team if they lose that one. Be confident and take risks, I say.

An another note if Brown is unable to play on Sunday then who keeps wicket? I've seen Salt doing keeping drills a few times in the nets at Hove this season. Who is keeping for the 2nd XI?

That's a great win, fantastic knock from Evans, great to watch when he's in form. Wasn't confident after seeing the Kent score but glad to be proved wrong. Hope for a good game on Sunday - no rain forecast at the mo

Well done to Sussex on a great win. I think yet again our bowling let us down big time! We seem to be back to 2 seasons ago all over again without a decent bowling attack. I think early season conditions and accuracy of Harris & Parnell helped us out in the Championship games. Now that we have played three and lost three, perhaps we need to "rest" our bowlers and bring in some youngsters and give them valuable experience in 1 day cricket. Thought we had enough runs in the bag, but fair play to Evans, Luke and Finch. They batted brilliantly. Well onwards and upwards. Hope to see you at T.Wells, with better weather. Today it felt like the Arctic circle!

Can't remember when we last won back to back games in the 50 over stuff. Great effort from Evans and Finch to see us home after a solid start from Nash and Wright.
So we've beaten Glamorgan and Kent who are the bottom two in our group, there are tougher games to come. We now need the bowlers to come good at the same time as the batters and we'll be a force to reckon with. The talent is there.
Although Garton got a bit of tap in this game, he was very economical in the last and adds dynamics to the fielding so I'd stick with him and go with the same line up on Sunday.
C'mon Sussex lets send those Surrey boys home with their tails between their legs!

Brilliant day on the road for any Sharks fans that made the St Lawrence trip yesterday. The traffic both ways was light which made it a very comfortable drive. Its true that Kent batted very well in their “allotted” as our attack seemed to be having difficulty in getting any purchase. Perhaps there was a slight change in direction when George Garton (to take the inform Bell Drummond) and Briggs both took back to back stunning high catches out deep. In the cold dull weather I just felt they were both very important catches.
It was up to Sussex to bat well and boy did they deliver. The ground fell silent as Chris and Luke did what they do best. Then after a, shall we say challenged snick behind by Evans, Kent fans started to drift from their seats. Kent seemed to lose shape and discipline as Evans hit crisp shot after crisp shot.
A top class away win ensued and judging by the smiles around the away balcony and a very loud sing song in the away dressing room it was very well received by all in a Sussex shirt. Kent fans understandable upset and frustrated with their teams Royal London Cup progression thus far.
Laurie Evans will receive the lion's share of the plaudits (from golden duck to 134 n.o. in two games)a wonderful inns. But for me Harry Finch underpinned the win with patience and a maturity of a player further into his career. It was 80 in 82 balls but he did the hard work in the 1st half hour. Well done, Dad Jason and Hastings CC can be very proud this morning.
We go again tomorrow at Hove. Lets not carried away just yet !
