Could have won this game, against all odds. Excellent stuff from Archer to get us to a run-a-ball with 20 odd needed but then a lack of experience I spose done for him. He just needed to think on his feet a little and Shahzad was probably the man to tell him.
Why no Garton? He's been excellent and I was looking forward to seeing him. Maybe he was 'rested' but not picking him could well have been the difference.
I do like our middle/lower order at the moment from a power hitting point of view, especially if Evans is at six. With Jordan back at some point that will be even better, as will the bowling and fielding. I'm not sure our lower middle order is a good reason to play the West Indies style, and pretty dated, wickets in hand then all out with the hitters. Wright and Nash at least need to be more expansive, and natural.

I think Garton may be injured. I caught a glimpse of him on the balcony at Chelmsford and he appeared to have strapping on his right hand?

Weather may have a bearing on the competition now rain has returned. Fingers crossed for Sunday but the forecast looks a bit ropey with precipitation never too far away.

While I was sulking on the Kentish Exiles section about Kent disregarding their tangible qualification chances today, I just had a look at where Sussex are at. Just for anyone with better things to do than work this out (but who would like to know).
Sussex win both remaining games:- Sussex qualify.
Sussex lose both remaining games:- Sussex don't qualify.
Sussex beat Gloucestershire and lose to Hampshire:- Sussex qualify as long as Surrey do the opposite.
Sussex lose to Gloucestershire and beat Hampshire:- Sussex qualify as long as Surrey lose at least one of their matches.

I am not going to lie to say that I was very disappointed with certain aspects of the overall performance. Steve Hollis of the Argus had it spot on when he gravitated towards we had them by the balls but failed to drive home the advantage. The team and Mark will know only to well the bits I am referring to.
Enough of that we now come to two massive games in season 2017, We all move house from Hove to the beautiful surrounds of the Saffrons in Eastbourne. Good luck to all the back room staff for this one off match. Then its off to the Ageas bowl next week.
Two wins and who knows straight into the Semi final at Hove ! wouldn't that be something. two losses and its a huge chance gone down the drain.
Come on Mark we are all waiting !
