THERE IS A LOT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT !
From the top I would like to add warm best wishes to Ian Fletcher Price (Eastbourne CC Chairman) and his army of support staff. Having visited The Saffrons on many occasions for club cricket I know they pride them selves on producing great wickets and making the ground look as pretty as a picture. With the iconic bell tower as a back drop coupled with what looks to be wall to wall sunshine sports fans are in for a real treat. I hope that the people of Eastbourne get right behind this exciting vibe and turn out in big numbers.
Hampshire losing to Glamorgan. What a match that turned out to be on Friday. Vince scored a record 178 for Hampshire but it wasn't enough as the visitors stormed to victory in the last over. All Sussex fans will know that result is a massive shot in the arm for our own chances quarter final or dare I say it automatic semi final qualification.
Our team are starting to fire on all cylinders. After three wins on the trot and lets say a choking loss at Chelmsford it seems that Mark Davis has his squad nicely in tune to 50 over cricket right now. They should need no rousting for this one and hopefully every single player in that squad is looking forward to stepping out and giving it all they have at Eastbourne.
There is no question that the Royal London One Day Cup is extremely important for Sussex CCC right now and a trip to Lords on 1st July would be huge for every one involved. We have worked a position where anything and everything is possible but in the short term we must execute at the beautiful surrounds of the Saffrons !
Really looking forward to the day, will be travelling via The Coaster and hoping to be in the ground by 10.15. See you all there and don't forget the Ambre Solaire.
GO SHARKS GOSBTS !

Yes, let's hope for fine weather and a Sussex victory. My only issue is that I wonder if the majority of the crowd will be able to actually see the cricket. See photo below. I understand that the ground is not banked, so maybe only the early birds will be in luck. Elsethread, nemmo has commented on the new layout of the ground: unofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/thread/3/softandfluffys-wicked-cricket-blog?page=103I do hope everything works well on the day.

The forecast is for rain overnight tonight but sunshine all day tomorrow. However it's not looking too good weather wise for Wednesday at Southampton. Which makes tomorrow's game a must win if there's a chance of only 1 point from Wednesday.

Sussex lose the toss and will bat. One change to the team, Will Beer in for Shahzad.

Sussex lose the toss and will bat. One change to the team, Will Beer in for Shahzad. This must be the only ground where member's seating is uphill to the playing area and therefore useless! The fragile batting is a REAL problem. 40 overs gone and no sight of a competitive score - Joffra just in but collapse happening. If we can't beat Gloucester what hope?

5-for from Chris Liddle. Bet he's savouring that!
Surprised we haven't scored more - the whole playing area doesn't look much bigger than the adjacent football pitch.

Beer and Briggs seem to have done an excellent job of containment, and Jofra has been priceless once again. Can we sustain in the last 10 overs, or do we need wickets?
On edit: Beer gets Hankins as I post the above - answered, vindicated, and god speed!

Apart from Wright, Evans and Archer a disappointing batting performance. Far too many soft wickets. Chris Liddell taking a fifer? Come on! But off the field it shone brightly. A write-up will appear on the WickedCricket Blog next week including exclusive news on Zac Toumazi.

That was a pretty poor display. There is something not quite right about this team's approach, mindset, gameplan, adaptability and confidence. Looks like they're sort of coasting games and see how it goes.

Looks like they're sort of coasting games and see how it goes. Totally agree with you otto ( and thanks for posting ) To my mind it's at the management level that things must be going wrong. We have talent in the squad but we never seem to get the best out of them. Mark Davis has never seemed very inspiring whenever I've heard him speak and Luke Wright obviously isn't the right person to be club captain. I'd have Luke as T20 captain and Ben Brown as 50 over and championship captain. Ben is a natural speaker and comes across as very passionate and knowledgeable. The big big fear is that the further we let things slide the more chance our very promising youngsters will look to go elsewhere to progress their careers. I can't see the likes of Jofra Archer languishing at the bottom of div 2 for very long. Whats the solution? It has to be a shake-up of the coaching staff. We need to bring in some fresh blood to inspire and move the club forward. I hope Rob Andrew will take the lead and put plans in place. He's used to spearheading successful sporting outfits and I'm sure he'll want to do the same at Sussex.

Just some of the names on the shirts. There's a clue there.
