This may be the shortest thread in the history of the messageboard.
The weather looks abysmal with thunderstorms forecast.
Finch and Robinson added to the squad, still no Wright or Mills.

Heavy rain, covers on, toss delayed.

Heavy rain, covers on, toss delayed. Put S&F in charge - he'd have them out there playing. Footballers wouldn't be deterred!

The only solution for it is to play the tournement in Dubai or to play it in April and May when the weather is better!
To Softandfluffy if Jofra Archer were to suffer a season or career ending injury because of twisting a ligament on the wet outfield would you still be saying the same? Would the club be suing the ECB? I don't think they should be playing as the outfield is not fit for first class cricket. Either it is first class cricket, which it clearly must be to justify ridiculous £28 entry price, or it should be played on a village green. At the moment the T20 competition is nothing more than a mickey mouse competition being played in farcical conditions.
Poor captaincy by Taylor to keep Garton on (or any bowler on for two successive overs in an eight over game. If Somerset get 100 they win the game.

Somerset 94-2 after 7 overs - one to go.
Should we be praying for the rain to return?

Somerset 94-2 after 7 overs - one to go. Should we be praying for the rain to return? Yes. It's an absolute farce that professional cricket is being played in these conditions. If a player gets injured in these conditions I hope they sue the ECB for every penny they have. Sussex if they are to have any hope of chasing this down will have to bat in this order: Nash Taylor Evans Archer Jordan Wiese Brown Beer Van Zyl Briggs Garton

Presumably it's safe otherwise the umpires would take them off?

Fielders are slipping all over the place and taking extreme care with their footing. It's like Bambi on ice FFS! The only reason they're playing is so that they don't have to give refunds!

Why did Taylor not open instead of van Zyl? This is the second game running where Ross Taylor hasn't wanted to play.

Even I accept this is a complete farce and the players should have come off by now. This game should be abandoned. D/L is double their present score, so no chance at all unless Taylor pulls a rabbit out of the cricket bag. Required run rate 17 an over.
edit: Taylor out. Start up the coach.

Why don't the Sussex batsmen just walk off? Last ball of the 5th over. Have the umpires got the balls to take the players off now? If so, one can imagine the furore from Sussex. The umpires have no choice but to carry out the 8 overs even if the rain becomes Noah Ark torrential.
edit: Interesting to hear what Mark Davis has to say in the post-game interview.

That's totally unacceptable - what the **** are the umpires playing at?? "It's T20 and it's all about entertainment." Simon Jones was out for two years because of an extremely wet Brisbane outfield. If they are going to play at all costs then the umpires or the ECB as their employer needs to face the legal consequences of doing so. Whilst the umpires have the final say it's quite clear commercial factors are overriding player safety and that is completely wrong in my opinion. Sussex were 100% right not to risk Wright and Mills in such dreadful conditions.

Don't let the poor conditions divert from how poor we are - both sides played in it and a side loaded with excuses is a losing side.
Still can't chase, will that ever dawn? Still wasting a position with our so obviously ill-judged balance.
I said it last year before he rocked up and I'll say it again - Taylor is seriously overrated.
We need to shake this team up and for Christ's sake Davis, change your mind over our balance.

I agree re Taylor, a great batsman in his day but his day has passed.
I'm looking forward to Davis's post match interview, can't see how he can put a positive spin on this one.
