This is usually the province of coverpoint, but I think we should take note of and salute the U-17s match against their Somerset counterparts. What a fantastic scorecard, and congratulations to Nick Oxley. 185 takes some getting, at any age and against any opposition.
I wonder how many more of these names we will be saluting in years to come. Let us hope that those with real talent and endurance can be identified early on and, if they want to progress in the game they get the right encouragement and exposure at the right times. We have had too many Thorneleys, to many Gattings, too many shooting stars.

Yes, I saw this and was a little puzzled. It says it's an U17's game yet Oxley is already 18. Nevertheless, as you say, it's a fantastic score at any age. He's in his last year of the academy so it will be interesting to see whether he gets offered a contract.

U17 seems to have become U18 this season. It is a pretty strong team with Billings, Clarke, Collard, Haines, Oxley, Smith and Twine. Where were Haines and Ward?

That explains perhaps why Oxley was drafted in to the second innings of the 2nd eleven game against Essex, where he hit an unbeaten fifty
