Here it is: The Biggest game of the season so far. Middlesex beating Glamorgan last night did no-one any favours except the winners as we now have 6 teams on 12 points presently vying for probably 3rd and 4th place in the QFs. Is this a record? Although, Essex, Kent and Surrey all have a game in hand. I am not a Maths man, so have no idea how it may pan out on Friday for Sussex if they do beat Essex. But whatever the outcome it will be damn close for the counties concerned and come down to net run-rate. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/english-twenty20/tableQ: Where teams tie on points at the end of the qualifying round, is this decided on number of wins or run-rate? The Natwest Blast wiki states, "Teams are ranked by total points, then net run rate." Can this be confirmed. The BBC and Cricinfo appear to be at odds. After last night Sussex now lie in third for best RR in the Southern League after Middlesex beat Glamorgan by 61 runs having bowled them out during the 16th over and now taken second place. www.ecb.co.uk/governance/regulations/first-class-county-regulations

Ross Taylor has gone home ( for family reasons ) Ben Brown will captain for this game.
Unfortunately he won't be missed and I hope this gives young Phil Salt a chance.

The answer is in the link you quote: 21.11.4 The tie-breakers for teams finishing on equal points will be: a The team with the higher net run rate in the Group Matches will be placed in the higher position. b In the event that teams cannot be separated by (a) above, this will be done by drawing lots.

joe, Perhaps, you are right about his wife's pregnancy but surprised the club press release doesn't mention that Taylor has gone home for the birth. I believe he has two children so could one of them be unwell? For, Taylor's loss of form has been quite dramatic when compared to last season, so it may not all have been down to being given the Captaincy; but as you say, he won't be missed and this offers an opportunity for one of the youngster batsmen like Salt. Meanwhile, Brown has captained the Championship side well this season so let us hope he passes this on to the T20 team. www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/news-ross-taylor-returns-homedfl, I couldn't be bothered to peer through all the endless pages of rules and regulations. Thank you for doing the donkey work.

Given the importance of this match Mills has to play, surely? How bad is his hamstring. Can it survive 4 overs? It survived 7 overs over two games and Mill's has had near on 2 weeks to recover.

No Mills again for this game, still out with a hamstring injury. That's now 4 out of 14 games he's played. I predicted this at the beginning of the campaign but it gives me no pleasure whatsoever to say ' I told you so! '
Is he paid a big salary or does he only get paid for the games he plays?

One of Surrey or Kent must now remain above us as they play each other. If Middlesex lose to Glamorgan, we will qualify if we win unless another team improves their run rate enough to overtake us (as well as reach 14 points). If Middlesex win, we need to thrash Essex. If we tie or have a washed out game, I'll need more spare time to look at the options.
