A slightly worrying tweet from Luke Wright this morning. Are we to expect him to be consistently injured during the 2018 county season? At least he realises that his 'true' bread and butter is spread on the South Coast.
Luke Wright Twitter
For those asking sadly I've had to pull out the @thepslt20 this year. I've been carrying niggles all winter and they aren't getting better so to being fair to both @karachikingsary & @sussexccc I respectfully have to miss it. Great tournament. Hope to play in it next year.

Hopefully he'll commit to a full season with Sussex. We could do with him contributing some big runs.

Yes, a full season for Sussex would be good Like to see Luke take some more resposibility, and bat further up the order, taking some pressure of the youngsters

Yes a real shame, he is our most experienced four day batsman, in a What has been, pretty unconvincing bunch. More disappointing, is the fact that the decision has been made now, leaving the club little or no chance of signing a replacement It makes a mockery of our decision not to recruit an experienced top order batsman Was it Luke’s decision to announce it now, or had he made the decision over the winter, but the club only decided announce it now? I suppose it’s still possible to get a Kolpak, but it’s not ideal for this to happen once the seasons started For Luke, yes I get it, and am probably surprised it hasn’t happened before. A big loss, again

Presently, it goes from bad to worse. At least, we now know why he didn't play in the Leicestershire game, but what is all this baloney that he chose not to play in the PSL to focus on red ball?

I fully understand his reasons for doing this especially the bit about wanting to prolong his career. I wish him all the very best for the future.

Something stinks about this... Why did he play in the Kent friendly and score a ton, ignore 20/20 opportunities and then quit? He's always seemed a nice guy so I can't imagine it's toys out of pram time. I don't see who benefits from this decision.

We are currently a shambles of a club, and have been for the last 5 years

This interview with Luke, just after scoring that century a few days ago, makes a mockery of today's announcement. Right from the start of the interview, Luke emphasises his desire to improve his red ball cricket. I reckon the club has just decided that he's not required for red ball cricket, and they've decided to cut the salary bill. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqsaFMT95vo#action=share

Another chapter in the inexplicably mind boggling new world of SCCC. It's poor whoever came up with it.

There’s no way Haines should have trumped Wright for a spot. Surely we have to recruit now, but who’s out there?
