I think this has all come from the poor management of Salisbury & Kirtley. They gave these 'boys' too much rope, overrated them etc, etc.. The players thought they could get away with things. Dress codes for players on match days disappeared, mingling with sponsors (I've seen it) they kept themselves to themselves. Gone are the days of Adams, Yardy, Goodwin etc ambassadors for the club. IMO this present group are immature. As for player of the year, who? F H-P? Buy him a comb or give him a hair cut. Old fashioned but, not a good advert for SCCC. Farbrace, harder job than he imagined? Agree with a lot of this. I only picked FHP as player of the year because of the lack of other options!

5 down already and not even lunch yet…… Make that six Joe!! Looking at the respective line ups this was always going to be a real struggle. Not helped by the first three dismissals being gifted due to three poor shots well outside the off stump without any real footwork. Forget any chance of bonus points and be thankful that the rain might, I say might just save us from a thorough thrashing. Barring another fifty from H-P, we are probably going to be all out for around 100. If I were Derbyshire, I would forfeit my first innings and look to roll us over cheaply twice. If nothing else, Farbrace is getting a good look and even better indication of the quality and ability of his squad. Update, make that seven and thay is with playing extra batters!!

Horror show. Although we might as well continue getting destroyed in this game. It will strengthen Farbrace’s hand when he makes his case for investment. We are so far off though. He must be considering whether it’s in his interests to stick around. Why would next season be any different?

Good toss to win. Poor batting. Hopefully our bowlers can cause similar chaos.

ah they were playing for rain, trying to get a big score on the board quickly, that explains the 2.5 runs an over.

Total disgrace. Last week must be one of the blackest times in the long history of the club.
Have to look back further than Kirtley. Feel we still recovering from the Gillespie era.
Need a clear out from top to bottom, on & off the pitch.

To be fair there are plenty of low scores in other games too but we appear to have a demoralised team (not to mention the supporters). Maybe our most urgent need is for a good sports psychologist!

As this game meanders to the invevitable draw it always promised to do. That morning session was exactly the hierarchy at Sussex would not have wanted.
Almost feels like hands are being shaken on the season.

All out for 100. Make them walk home tomorrow.
We aren't recovering from the Gillespie era. We're recovering from the Salisbury era. At least under Gillespie you knew that (the majority of the time) we would at least turn up and fight. We'd at least be able to go into a match knowing that we would be competitive for the majority of Dizzy's time here. People would be held accountable, players would be dropped if necessary - sometimes unfairly in the eyes of some - and there were proper standards at the club.
There's none of that with this lot, and it began once Salisbury took over. Players failed repeatedly and kept being given chances to play. Everything was laissez faire and half arsed. It has spread to the players and what we are left with is gutless performances from a poor squad.
I said on another thread the realisation of what Farbrace is working with has really hit him in the last couple of months. His early season optimism has drained away and you can tell with his body language and his comments, such as claiming the other week that none of the 2ndXI lot are good enough for the 1st team and the comments about needing more experience is another example. He seems generally downcast when I've heard him speak in these last couple of months. Really wouldn't shock me at all if he walked at the end of the season, given how its so reportedly difficult to work in conjunction with Andrew. I'd be disappointed if Farbrace did walk, but I'd completely understand his decision, especially if he's told that there won't be anymore experienced incomings.

We may still be dependent on the weather tomorrow to avoid another dismal batting display and an innings defeat.
