The fact that FHP is opening the bowling is an indictment of where we stand. He’s a decent all rounder but ought to be used as a second change bowler.

Further illustrated by Pujara in the match against Leicestershire last week preferring Haines as second change to Crocombe in both the first and second innings. If we are selecting Hunt then I would have expected him to have been given the new ball.

I think this has all come from the poor management of Salisbury & Kirtley. They gave these 'boys' too much rope, overrated them etc, etc.. The players thought they could get away with things. Dress codes for players on match days disappeared, mingling with sponsors (I've seen it) they kept themselves to themselves. Gone are the days of Adams, Yardy, Goodwin etc ambassadors for the club. IMO this present group are immature. As for player of the year, who? F H-P? Buy him a comb or give him a hair cut. Old fashioned but, not a good advert for SCCC. Farbrace, harder job than he imagined? Quite a few would benefit from a trip to the barbers. Slightly off topic but anyone else wondering why, given the squad we have, Beer wasn’t given another year?

Good toss to win. Poor batting. Hopefully our bowlers can cause similar chaos. Well, that answered my own question. Yes, our batting was poor. But the inability of our non overseas bowlers to bowl line and length is awful. Another difficult interview for Farbrace. If Andrew and Co don't back him over the Winter then he will go. Oh, and by the way what terrible timing to publish ticketing info about 2024 on the website.

As this game meanders to the invevitable draw it always promised to do. That morning session was exactly the hierarchy at Sussex would not have wanted. Almost feels like hands are being shaken on the season. 'Inevitable Draw'!! I wish I shared your optimism. We may still be dependent on the weather tomorrow to avoid another dismal batting display and an innings defeat. IF we do lose we'd be the only team in the world that could do it. It is nearly impossible to do it. I hear Farbrace moaning about the batting, the biggest observation of them all was the leading run scorer was batting 8!

His last year he was on a white ball contract but yeah he wouldnt have made either the T20 or the one day cup team worse. I think they probably preferred Rawlins but that obviously went sour.

I heard something rather alarming yesterday and without betraying the trust of the person that told me, if it is true Rob Andrew would have no choice but to resign in my opinion given how much he talks about how he has balanced the books.

I am not clear whose responsibility it is, to sack the Club's CEO. Is it the Chairman, Jon Filby? Does he then have to gain the backing from the Board, of which Andrew is a member? Perhaps, someone out there knows the process.
Also, when was the last time a Sussex CEO was sacked? Was that after the Members rebellion?

I cant see him doing it so Rob Andrew would have to resign. If this is true it will have a significant impact on next years budget (again in my opinion) and therefore a whole pile of sh1t could unravel.

I remember when I first interviewed Andrew, he told me how taken aback he was by the Sussex finances. We both agreed that Spen Cama's legacy had saved the Club over the years from ruin. It was this realisation that made him determined to be the "prudent book-keeper".
The players' wage bill was then savagely cut, hence the exodus, after Jim May had sensibly (in my view) increased them before to keep our best cricketers. And why Andrew's decision to go the youngster route.
Cheap and manageable.
So, I am fascinated to know what he has allegedly done to scupper the finances, as his long-term plan was based around sound money management, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The one good thing Andrew has achieved in his 7 years (?) of tenure is the apartment block. The rest of it has been a steady destruction of the Club. I hear the new Cricketer's pub is having problems due to their high charges for food and drink. I wonder how that will pan out?

Just listened to Farbrace interview, sounds like wholesale changes upcoming, many players should be afraid, he is quite clear, they are not learning, and if they can’t or won’t learn then they have no future at Sussex, and if they aren’t good enough for Sussex then it’s back to amateur cricket for them, no other county will be lining up to sign them.

Expand your pub observation and you are pretty much there with the issue and i havent said anything then
