Yes, we keep making all these cuts, but where’s it all going? Yep I dont even buy into the argument of 10.30 starts as an impact here or the rain taking 45 overs out of the first day, purely because they are things beyond our control we have zero say in that decision. The floodlights is our call and whether it wins you a game or loses you a game you are denying the paying public what theyve come to see. Even if they agreed a maximum of 20 hours it could be used in the CC home games (which i still think would be excessive) thats 3 grand. They are trying to attract people to the ground not put them off. Absolutely spot on post AB

Haven’t seen the new CEO at Hove this week. The point about not using the floodlights v Northants, is they could have been used everyday. The most critical one was on the 3rd day when FHP & DL were batting so well. It would have made using the floodlights on day 4 irrelevant. Not using floodlights, isn’t helping to attract new supporters to the club. Nor is not having a club shop or on match days, having reception closed till lunchtime. The club shop issue is absolutely bizarre. Have a look at other counties and the amount of merchandise you can buy from there club shops and then how little you can buy from ours. It’s just really odd Regarding the club shop, the minimum wage has increased by 70% over the last 10 years. It's not commercially viable especially in a cost of living crisis.

To all those complaining about floodlights. Are you willing to pay £2,000 per season for membership rather than £200? Or £200 a day rather than £20 a day? Electricity prices for businesses have incraased exponentially. Invidiauls have protected from the largest increases. Businesses haven't. Okay. So we're told it costs £150 an hour. 7 home games equals a maximum of 28 days championship cricket. Some matches will finish early. Some will be played in blazing sunshine throughout. Other times it will rain: so off anyway. So, realistically how often will they be on: even if they have to stay on all day once they are on? Even being pessimistic, maybe 14 days at, say 5 hours (using the once on they must stay on rule) would equal, so that's £750 x 14 = £14,250. That's absolutely nothing compared to the players wage bill of around 1.5 million (the salary cap is now 2.9 million, so that's probably what Surrey are paying). But really, 15K is a drop in the ocean. No need for membership to go up to £2,000 to pay for it (a slight exaggeration on your part!) It's still commercially viable with one man and his dog watching the game!

Even the smallest football clubs manage, with their floodlights needing to be on for every night game plus day games in the winter and plus training under lights in the evening for semi-pro sides. Factoring in reserve, youth matches and so on the lights must often be on 4-5 times a week.
I can't find any articles about a crisis in costs for running them - there seemed to be a murmur about earlier kick offs in the autumn of 2022 which was quickly forgotten, and I am sure these clubs don't get £4 million a year each in support from the FA.
Can't compare football and cricket. Most counties don't have a pot to piss in and most counties would go under without the ECB handout.

Within a generation I reckon two third of the counties will disappear as attendances continue to dwindle and county cricket continues to be run into the ground by the ECB.

The ECB "handout" is the counties' share from the TV revenue received by the ECB, to which they are perfectly entitled and always have been. It's actually the same as football, where Premier League clubs (most of whom make thumping losses each year anyway) would go bust without their TV money handout from the Premier League.

Ask yourself this, who are our 3 best bowlers? We all know. Now ask yourself is there ever a reason to not play your three best bowlers? We all know. There may be a few morons on a message board that don't get it but that Farbrace doesn't really shows how stupid this man is. There is no excuse for not playing Kojak with Robbo & Seales, regardless of permutations. Nice batting on the ice rink. I'm altering it again, more than one win for anyone at Hove - a million Mongolian bucks.
