I reckon CJ is going to be an England regular, unless something unforeseen happens. Watching him on TV, he just looks the part. We'll miss him badly unless Jimmy and Jon can do the business.

He bowls four overs, hits his only ball for six - so why on earth does the England management insist that he sits out the Durham game. 4 days watching his mates play will develop his cricket in what way precisely? Ludicrous and not fair to the paying public.

I'm positively seething about this decision It's going to be difficult for him to break into the test team if he's not allowed to play four-day cricket. I'm sure he will have pointed this out to the powers that be!

I'm sure he will have pointed this out to the powers that be! I wonder if Moores sees him as a Test match bowler, or only a one-day bowler at the moment? Like all the rest of the commeters here I'm disappointed and cross at the short-sightedness of "resting" a man after 4 overs. Perhaps Moores wants him for the T20 and one-dayers against Sri Lanka and worries about the risks of injury and strains from not only being a strike bowler but also a stock bowler in a four-day game. He's also resting Gurney and Anderson, and I doubt very much that Gurney is being seriously coinsidered for a Test match at this stage. Anderson might be arguably a special case as he's that much older and Lancashire would certainly want him to bowl them out of trouble if they could.

If a player has ambitions to break into the test side, which Jordan has, he can prove his credentials only by his performances in the longer version of the game. Unless he's an established test player such as Anderson of course. By protecting him for one-day internationals in this way, the England management is delaying his potential entry into the test team, either because they view him as a one-day player currently and/or because they are happy with their five-day bowling options. In either case it's almost certainly not in Jordan's best interests. Presumably, he'll bowl like a man possessed when he is permitted to play four-day cricket..

Surely, this means that he will play in the test matches against Sri Lanka. If he does not, many of us will be perplexed...to put it one way.

According to FiveLive, Cook says he would like to see CJ play in test match cricket.
So, well done, Chris - you're one of those players who has grasped his opportunity with both hands -unlike some who, sadly, have found the international level a step too far.

So, well done, Chris - you're one of those players who has grasped his opportunity with both hands -unlike some who, sadly, have found the international level a step too far. I think that's very true. One of the really encouraging things about CJ's play is the way he appears to learn, quickly and effectively, from past mistakes. Last season he was criticised for being tactically naive in his one-day bowling, particularly T20. He seems to have applied himself to that with excellent results. He's also rapidly rediscovering his talents as an effective lower-order batsman, in marked contrast to his mishandling at Surrey where his team Director (can't remember the name of the chap now) sought to make him into an opening batsman, with rather constipated results. I hope he will go on to play in the Tests and really set the seal on his career. I'm sorry if that means we'll see no more of him this season at Sussex, or very little, but he deserves it as a player and as a person.

I think it's a cert that he'll play in the Tests. Thrilled for him, as it's the result of all the hard work he's put in over the last twelve months. Hats off to Sussex as well, they saw something in him and have provided the right environment for him to thrive. Sadly, they/we may not see much of Chris Jordan now, which is a huge blow to our domestic ambitions as it robs us of our cutting edge.

Yet again marks Sussex out as a good place to come and really develop your game as a young/under performing cricketer. Credit to the coaching staff.

This is about the size of it. In Twenty20 last season and indeed CC he was spraying it about even when successful. I worried he wouldn't have a chance to develop having been fast tracked into the England set up with all the baggage that goes with that. Not at all - he's nailed it!
