Due to start st 11am, 49 overs a side and just a 15 minute interval. Thought there would be no chance of play, hopefully stays dry now.
Somerset to bat first.

There's one consolation if it rains for another couple of hours - we might get a decent 20/20 match!

It's raining now ...could those of you who were aware of exactly when the rain would come at hove now let us know if this match will be abandoned or how the weather will be? Please allow for the umpires and the wet outfield.

Please allow for the umpires and the wet outfield. According to the radar, FWIW, there will be showery intervals until around 2:00, then gradually clearing. What effect all this will have on the outfield or the umpires requires much more sophisticated software, I'm afraid.

Why has Sussex's target been reduced from 194 to 189?

Why has Sussex's target been reduced from 194 to 189? They have been penalised for being 10-2 after five overs. The importance of keeping wickets in hand under D/L.

Why has Sussex's target been reduced from 194 to 189? They have been penalised for being 10-2 after five overs. The importance of keeping wickets in hand under D/L. But both teams will bat for 33 overs. Will Sussex be penalised if they're 10 - 2 after 5 overs?! Where's the logic, I wonder . . .

especially as Somerset may have been batting more slowly with expectation of 40+ overs. I might have expected Sussex target to be higher.

Do ten overs constitute a game? Yes - in group games, as we discovered on Friday

Can we bat with our brains rather than our egos? What happened to the rain?
