Hanging around in a field for a few hours certainly does my back in these days. Mind you, I'm normally crouched down by a glory hole.
Wright should be playing red ball for us, given the situation. Just for a season or so. Especially if he's on a massive wage like our financial expert seems to think.

Sad Luke is quitting as captain of the T20 side. Appears the club is far from stable and the season is only a few weeks away.

Despite the management's attempts to play down the departure of so many key players in the past 18 months or so, and to dismiss the concerns expressed last autumn by Matt Prior and others, this latest news - coming just ahead of the new season - only confirms the continuing level of unrest when such a long standing, loyal and crucial one-day player as Luke feels obliged to throw in the towel as captain. It may be "time for marching", but everyone seems to be marching out of step and towards the exit.

I suspect all is not well with Luke Wright, its a very strange time to make this decision.

Good God! When will the Sussex calamities ever end? It is now becoming humiliating. It is 1996/97 all over again. Further Turmoil for Sussex as Luke Wright Steps Down as T20 Captain... Sussex are also without a permanent captain for their four-day side after Ben Brown resigned last year and has become another player to join the exodus from the county.www.thetimes.co.uk/article/77dd9850-a556-11ec-a03b-e2dc3fd8780f?shareToken=1ac41b81721705fc9792afb66bfcdf23What I don't understand is that while Luke is stepping down, the Club then say he will carry on playing for the side. This makes no sense.

Typical, unfortunately.
Not that bothered who captains the Mickey Mouse side, just give it to an OS, but we still don't know who will captain our Champ side do we? It can't be Haines or Garton cos they're getting sacked just after the toss at TB, or wherever it is.
Good positive moves are too often followed by stupid ones at this club.

In a Radio Sussex this week m Luke said everyone was told 3 weeks. He wants to to spend the last 2 years of his contracts ( longer possible) enjoying playing cricket without the responsibility of being captain.

Luke likely to be National Selector. Hope this is true, such a professional, knowledgeable and thoroughly nice bloke, will be great in this role. apple.news/AqNBFKEyAQuukz-1hLl2iBQ

Congratulations to Luke on his appointment, which The Times is reporting today as a done deal. He has been a great servant to Sussex since the days when we knew how to win trophies (Yes, THAT long ago). He has been a trailblazer in T20, not just in England but also with the Melbourne Stars. His early “fastest Big Bash century” at the MCG was an amazing achievement. I think he could be a very good national selector.

I wonder if he'll be able to fulfil the last year of his career with Sussex? Richly deserved though for the ultimate professional. Good luck Luke
