I wouldn’t call it horrendous treatment by Sussex, let’s face it, it was a few years ago he played for us and has only just popped up somewhere else years later.
That said, I agree with everything else!😳😉

Never expect favours from bookmakers, but Bet365 have us at 150-1 to win this match. I think I’d need somewhat more favourable odds than that to risk a shilling of my hard earnt money.

This is definitely the most gutless and spineless Sussex team that I can remember in the last 20 years of watching Sussex.
The players should be forced to train 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until they rediscover their form. You get time off for playing well. They're not and so deserve no time off whatsoever and no extra pay for the extra hours. If they don't like it they know where the door is. With the exception of Brown, Robinson and Wiese they are not good enough and no other county will sign them. They will end up signing on at the job centre.

Now 92-7. This match will be over by tea. At least, Captain Brown is showing some fight. What on earth does Gillespie say to his side before the away game to Division leaders Lancashire on July 13th?
The T20 tournament can't come quick enough.
edit: Make that 99-8 - Brown just out.

Beaten by 393 runs - by Northants. An utterly disgraceful performance.

Game, set and match to Northants. I’ll leave others to inform me of bigger past defeats. I’m beginning to wonder if there is more to this than just inadequate resources. It’s easy to forget that sports teams are no different to eleven individuals working in an office or any other place of work. That was one hell of a bad result, particularly following the poor Durham performance. Something needs to happen.

I wouldn’t call it horrendous treatment by Sussex, let’s face it, it was a few years ago he played for us and has only just popped up somewhere else years later. That said, I agree with everything else!😳😉 Why does that stop it from being horrendous? He was given several games over two years after earning his first pro contact at 19. He was released at 20. That's nowhere near enough of a chance for anyone of any age at any time. If you nurture a kid at your club from about 10 to 20 and then dump him after several games, well that is horrendous treatment. And he scored a 48 in a one day game so it weren't all bad. A complete waste of time bringing him through in the first place. Anyway according to what I've read he had a year off to get over the disappointment his HOME county spewed up on him, then played club cricket, then got invited to play for MCC or someone where Kirby liked him and trialled him at Derby. He got in the first team off the back of a 75 ball ton for their seconds. Now he's got runs on debut for the first team. If he hadn't, would they lose him after three games? Look he still might not go on but give a lad a chance, Jesus. It's a total waste if they've got to the point of earning a first team contract but aren't given a solid trusting run in two years. Total waste. Meanwhile, these current bums from god knows where, in at short notice, on loan, on Kolpak deals, on presumably much better money than a product have managed to score one less run second time round, against the worst team in the country. Ain't working Andrew, go away and take the overhyped Gillespie with you. These boys need a rocket. Adams anyone?

At least, Sussex were consistent with their two scores.
I have followed the Club for many years, but I cannot remember a side that has flipped from being ‘very good’ to ‘worse than appalling’ in such a short space of time. Perhaps, it last occurred pre-1998?
PS. One hopes both Rob Andrew and Jason Gillespie will now stand together in front of a Club video camera and apologise to Sussex supporters.

Absolutely speechless...
That is officially the worst runs defeat in the history of Sussex County Cricket Club.

Will they have the guts to rock the boat before the T20 starts? I doubt it, but no First Class (?) cricket club can live by T20 alone. It should be the cherry on top. Doesn’t work if there’s no cake.

Wicked Cricket you truly are a journo of today, reactionary and over the years I have found you to be a stirrer of things on this MB. I'm guessing you didn't play much? If you had you would appreciate that the wicket is important and home advantage should be home advantage? If you did you would have looked at the wicket yesterday or today? What did you notice? A lot of grass? What do Northants have? Lots of seamers? No spinners! Sussex, a few but some reasonable spin bowlers. Make the wicket bare. I defy Mushy to turn it on that lawn! Sussex are struggling a bit with injuries/illness at the moment. They don't have the squad of others, resources are not endless. Plenty of time to turn it round. I get annoyed with the fair weather supporters. Supporting a team is through thick & thin. If you want to be a critic WC, I respectfully suggest you write for a publication and not vent your negative views on here. Support Sussex. Surely the whole point of a message board is to express ones views, regardless of what they are, not only be allowed to say nice things?🤔

Well the final two matches of last season were pretty dismal, given we’d been challenging for promotion prior to them. Or 2000, we went into August top of division 2, finished the season bottom.

JG sounds appropriately embarrassed even bewildered by the Sussex performance as he talks about 'poor body language', honest reflections from the players needed, and not leaving the batting up to the Captain. Adrian Harms then asks Gillespie if taking on this job is a greater challenge than he realised. Well worth a listen. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07fspfk
