Greed, pure greed. I wish nothing but, no luck whatsoever. Sussex took him in, helped him recover to play white ball AND red ball cricket (something no-one thought would happen) Then leave for what? More money, yes. Advised by? His ever present over bearing, known for one thing only father? Probably. The 2nd time this has happened, remember how he left Essex? Money & greed. The result? Injury and failure to play. I can't the logic. Opportunity to play or be considered by England playing regularly for Sussex or seating on his arse with the army of Surrey seamers? It should be to play? A loss I didn't think would happen. Shows the class of the man and his father, all announced after the coach had left the country. Save him getting a proper man to man chat with him? The man has class, I can't wish him well for the way handled him self. Sounds as if you're pleased he left Sussex.

I wish Sussex would take his picture off the front page of their website!

I thought Topley to be an odd move when I heard he was training in the winter. Having seen him play I was surprised at his recovery. I thought he was a very useful addition to the T20 side. A real plus. A class seamer. I was surprised he was fit enough for 4 day cricket. Another bonus. His value to SCCC had increased. I felt he owed them for getting him playing again. No other club appeared to give him a chance. Loyalty was required. Sussex got nothing. Hence my earlier post.

Not so much greed but ambition over loyalty, perhaps? If Topley does ever return to the England ranks, this will be a far greater comeback than Mitchell Johnson. I doubt if anything else in cricket surpasses it.
Good luck to him.

I think you have to ask yourself what decision you would have made if you'd had the career choices that Topley had. I'm a little surprised at the strength of the negative reactions on here; I thought it was only certain football fans who expect "their" players to have the same blind loyalty as themselves. Let's hope Sussex fans don't boo Topley if he's ever in the opposition team at Hove!

No football fan re-action. More I would expect better moral fibre. As for ambition, I see Sussex have the best fast bowler in the UK/World? And 1 in the T20 team? Another potential England player emerging? I would have thought being around those would be good enough? It's about MONEY, pure and utter greed. And I don't think Sussex supporters will boo. I expect Topley will be injured.

Sussex have arguably the best T20 squad in the country, if his ambition is in white ball cricket there’s no reason he’d leave to go to a club who’ve only managed one quarter final spot in the last 5 years. He would have been almost guaranteed a place playing for Sussex but at Surrey they’re knee deep in seamers. I don’t think it matters at all where you play, if you’re good enough you’ll be recognised for higher honours. Of the England team who played today 5 are from Div2. I think it was greed and snobbery. (and I certainly won’t boo him, booing has no place is sport and should only be heard at pantomimes)
